The Dallas Stars face the Colorado Avalanche with both teams off to great starts to the season. The Stars have a 12-5-4 record which is the best in the Central Division while the Avalanche have an 11-6-1 record and have won seven of their last 10 games. Both teams are looking to remain near the top of the Central Division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

Stars offense has been dominant this year

The Stars are having a great season led by an offense that is scoring 3.95 goals per game. Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz have scored 24 goals and 31 assists to lead the top line but the entire offense has been great. Jamie Benn, Joe Pavelski, and Tyler Seguin have combined for 22 goals and 38 assists while defensemen Miro Heiskanen and Esa Lindell have added four goals and 16 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.75 goals per game. Esa Lindell and Colin Miller have combined for 2.9 defensive point shares and 47 blocked shots while Jani Hakanpaa and Miro Heiskanen have combined for 2.1 defensive point shares to give the Stars two great defensive pairings. With the Stars playing the second game of a back-to-back, the hope is that goaltender Scott Wedgewood can step up in the net as he has a .904 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average on 239 shots.

Avalanche have been led by dominant offense

The Avalanche are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.44 goals per game including 10 goals in the last three games. Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon have scored 18 goals and 37 assists to lead the top line but the entire offense has been great this year. Artturi Lehkonen, Evan Rodrigues, and J.T. Compher have combined for 13 goals and 20 assists while defensemen Cale Makar and Devon Toews have added seven goals and 26 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.56 goals per game. Makar and Toews have combined for 2.7 defensive point shares and 64 blocked shots to form one of the best defensive pairings in the league while Erik Johnson, Bowen Byram, and Josh Manson have combined for 2.6 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Alexandar Georgiev has been great in the net with a .929 save percentage and a 2.40 goals-against average on 409 shots.

This is going to be a great game between two of the best teams in the Western Conference. The Stars are looking to pull off the upset but the Avalanche, who have won seven of their last 10 games, look to control this game on both ends of the ice. The Avalanche, who average 3.44 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with quick centering passes. The Avalanche, who allow only 2.56 goals per game, should also limit the Stars' offense with Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and the rest of the defensive unit forcing turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone alike while goaltender Alexandar Georgiev blanks shots on the net. The Avalanche should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Avalanche money line as home Favorites.

Prediction: Avalanche (-130)

Both teams have been led by their offenses and the upcoming game should reflect that with both forward units finding the back of the net throughout the game. The Stars, who average 3.95 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement while Esa Lindell and Miro Heiskanen fire shots on the net from the blue line. The Avalanche, who have scored 10 goals in their last three games, should run up the score with Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen, and the rest of the forward unit crashing the net on the rush and creating open shots with great puck movement while Cale Makar and Devon Toews pick apart the Stars from the point. The Over should cover in a high-scoring game controlled by both offenses.

Take the Over on 6 goals.

Prediction: Over 6
