This Friday, there is a matchup between an Eastern Conference team and a Western Conference team in the NHL as the Washington Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks will face off at about 10:00 PM. This will be the second meeting between these teams this season and it will take place at the Honda Center.

Capitals Look To Extend Division Lead

So far this season, the Washington Capitals have looked like one of the best teams in the NHL. The Capitals currently have 47 points which is the most in the entire league. In addition, the Capitals are currently in first place in the Metropolitan Division with a seven-point cushion over the Islanders. Now, Washington will look for another win that can potentially extend its division lead as a Stanley Cup Playoff berth is already starting to look like a virtual lock. Luckily for the Capitals, they enter this game on a five-game winning streak so they are in great form to pick up another win regardless of where any game is being played.

Leading the Capitals offensively is defensemanJohn Carlson who has looked amazing this season. He already has 11 goals and 31 assists through the first 30 games of the regular season. Carlson has been a crucial component to the success of the franchise but he is in the midst of a career-year as he looks poised to win the James Norris Memorial Trophy.

The starting goalie for the Capitals in this game will be Braden Holtby who has been really good so far this season. He has a 14-2-4 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .909 save percentage. This season, Holtby has a 1-0-0 record with a 2.00 GAA and a .941 save percentage against the Ducks so now he will be looking to continue that level of success.

Anaheim Looks For Another Home Win

So far this season, the Anaheim Ducks have been a below average team in the NHL. Currently, the Ducks have a 12-12-4 record which has them in possession of seventh place in the Pacific Division. As a result, they are well out of the playoff picture and they are only four points ahead of the Kings for last place in the division. However, despite Anaheim's struggles this season, it has actually been really good at home this season. The Ducks have a surprising 8-5-2 record at the Honda Center this season and they will be looking for another home win on Friday after beating the Kings at home in their last game.

Leading the Ducks offensively will be centerRyan Getzlaf who has been pretty good this season. He already has a team-high 21 points in 28 games despite being 34 years old. In addition, Getzlaf also has a Plus/Minus Rating of +5 so the Ducks have fared really well whenever he is on the ice.

The starting goalie for the Ducks in this game will be John Gibson who has been okay this season. He has an 8-11-2 record but does possess a 2.86 GAA and a .910 save percentage. This season, Gibson has an 0-1-0 record with a 4.03 GAA and a .867 save percentage against the Capitals. Now, Gibson will look for a much better performance against them at home on Friday.

Best Bets for this Game

Full-Game Side Bet

Insiders Status:

Washington enters this game as the much better hockey team this season and it is not even close so I will take the road team in this game. Washington is currently in first place in the Metropolitan Division while Anaheim is currently out of the playoff picture by a decent margin so I think there is too much value with the Capitals in this one. Plus, Washington has been one of the best road teams in the league this season as it has won 13 of its first 16 road games. As a result, give me the Capitals.

Prediction: Washington Capitals

Full-Game Total Pick

Insiders Status:

Both Holtby and Gibson have been really good this season so I have to take the under in this game. Washington's defense has given up two goals or less in each of its last three games so I think that it should be able to limit Anaheim to less than three goals on Friday. At the same time, Anaheim has not given up more than three goals in each of its last two games so I think that Washington should score around three goals in this game. As a result, I think that this total is too high so I will take the under.

Prediction: Under 6

Half-Time Side Pick

Insiders Status:

Washington has been one of the best teams in the league and it has a lot more talent on its roster in comparison to Anaheim so I think that it should be able to grab a lead within the first 20 minutes of this game. Washington has a lethal power play and a lot of offensive playmakers so I expect the Capitals to generate more scoring chances in the first period which should lead to at least one goal in the first period. Meanwhile, Anaheim has struggled offensively all season long so scoring a goal in the first period is not that likely. Give me the road team.

Prediction: Washington Capitals 1P
