A little interleague NHL action and the Central Division will square off with the Atlantic Division as the Chicago Blackhawks grapple with the Boston Bruins at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The Blackhawks are off a 5-2 home win over the Red Wings, while the Bruins are off a 2-1 home win over the Avs in OT.
Blackhawks Continue To Sizzle
The Chicago Blackhawks have put it all together of late as they come into this game having won their last seven games in a row. Their offense has been the catalyst as they have averaged 5.14 gpg over that stretch. Chicago has also been getting better play on the crease of late as they have allowed just 2.5 gpg over their last six games. If the offense and defense are on the same page, then the Blackhawks will be a very dangerous team down the stretch. Right now, they are in 11th place in the Western Conference and just four points out of the 8th spot. Chicago is off a 5-2 beatdown of the Red Wings and scoring in the win was Dominik Kahun, who scored twice and now has 11 on the year, Dylan Strome, which was his 14th, Patrick Kane, which was his 33rd and Jonathan Toews, which was his 25th.
The Strome's a-brewin!
Dylan Strome has been named the @NHL's Third Star of the Week after recording 7 points (2G, 5A) in 3 games last week! Since we got him on Nov. 25, he's scored 30 points (11G, 19A) in 32 games. #Blackhawks pic.twitter.com/OBXUCuC8VV

Grabbing the win over the Red Wings was Cam Ward, who stopped 43 of the 45 shots that he faced to improve to 11-12 with a 3.67 GAA on the year, including 7-6 with a 3.68 GAA on the road. In his career, he has gone 16-22 with a 2.69 GAA against the Bruins. The Blackhawks have gone 11-17 on the road and they have averaged 3.29 gpg and have allowed 3.82 gpg in those games. Chicago enters this game ranked 10th in the league in power play conversions at 21.6% and 31st in penalty kill at 73.9%.
Bruins May Have Found Come Consistency
The Boston Bruins have had some stretches where they have played well, but overall this year, they have been searching for consistency. They may have found it as they enter this game having won their last three games in a row and five of their last six. Boston will be hard pressed to catch the Bolts in the Atlantic as they are 16 points out in that respect, but they could improve their playoff seeding. The Bruins are in currently in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division and 6th in the East, but they trail Toronto, who is in 2nd in the Atlantic and 3rd in the East, by just one point. The Habs are just one point behind the Bruins, so the race for 2nd in the Atlantic should be a fun one to watch down the stretch. Boston enters off a 2-1 OT win over the Avs at home and scoring in the win was John Moore, which was his 3rd of the year and Brad Marchand, whose 21st of the year came with just 57 seconds left in OT.

Grabbing the win against the Avs was Jaroslav Halak, who stopped 35 of the 36 shots that he faced to improve to 14-13 with a 2.44 GAA on the year. Tuukka Rask will get the nod in this one and he has gone 17-12 with a 2.36 GAA on the year, including 10-6 with a 2.27 GAA here at home. In his career, he has gone 5-3 with a 2.36 GAA against the Blackhawks. The Bruins have gone 20-10 here at home and they have averaged 3.40 gpg and have allowed 2.43 gpg in those games. Boston enters this game ranked 3rd in the league in power play conversions at 26.4% and 16th in penalty kill at 80.0%.

Full-Game Total Pick
It’s hard to look anywhere but the Over in this one, especially Since Chicago’s last 10 games have averaged 8.30 gpg. The Bruins have not allowed a whole lot of goals at home, but Chicago has been on fire offensively as they have averaged 5.14 gpg over their last six games. The Blackhawks have also allowed 3.60 gpg over their last 10 games and 3.82 gpg on the road, while the Bruins have averaged 3.40 gpg here at home. The Over is 12-2 in Chicago’s last 14 when their opponent scores two goals or less in their previous game and 5-2-1 in Boston’s last eight vs. the Western Conference.
Prediction: Over 6
