The San Jose Sharks will collide with the Los Angeles Kings in a divisional battle on Friday night. The Kings found the win column with a much-needed victory over the Coyotes on Wednesday. The Sharks were clobbered by the Ducks in their previous action. The Sharks lead the season series by a convincing 5-1 tally.

Kings Snap Losing Streak

The Los Angeles Kings enter this one on a winning note. They thwarted a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 home win over the Coyotes on Wednesday and now head out on a brief two-game road trip. L.A. hasn’t been able to generate consistent offense and stand in seventh place in the division as a result.

Anze Kopitar has been kept in check recently, earning only three points in his last eight games overall. The 13-year veteran center is having a productive season, accumulating 40 points. Kopitar has two goals and two assists against the Sharks this season. Drew Doughty is playing well, posting three points in his last three clashes. The veteran defenseman has six points against San Jose and is up to 30 points on the year. Adrian Kempe has found the scoresheet in consecutive games and the 24-year old right-winger has 13 goals.

The Kings have been giving Jonathan Quick and Calvin Petersen equal playing time in the crease. Quick was in net in Tuesday’s victory and enters this one with a 2.99 GAA and a 7-8-2 record while Petersen is sporting a solid 2.57 GAA and a 7-9-4 mark. L.A. ranks 18th overall with 2.7 goals per game. They are conceding an average of 2.9 goals, placing them 17th in the NHL.

Sharks Eye Rebound After Worst Loss of Season

The San Jose Sharks are looking to rebound from one of their worst defeats of the season. They had a four-game winning streak evaporate in an ugly 5-1 home loss to the last-place Ducks on Tuesday night. Overall, San Jose is playing well, winning six out of their last nine games overall.

Evander Kane has tallied four points in his last five clashes. The veteran winger is having a terrific season, registering 17 goals along with 16 assists. Kane has been a threat against the Kings this season, collecting six points in the six meetings. Logan Couture exited Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury and is questionable for this one. The 31-year old center has been quiet, recording only two points in his last eight games overall, and has 25 points on the year. Tomas Hertl has accrued four points in his last four bouts. The 27-year old center has tallied 24 points this season.

The Sharks have started Martin Jones in net in five straight games. The veteran netminder is having a subpar year, posting a 3.04 GAA and a .904 save %. Devan Dubnyk has been terrible, logging a 3.18 GAA and a 3-9-2 record. San Jose is scoring an average of 2.7 goals per game, ranking them 19th overall. They are conceding an average of 3.2 goals, landing them 28th.
