It’s an interconference contest on the ice down in the Sunshine State. The Winnipeg Jets are on the road as they travel to face the Florida Panthers Thursday night. Winnipeg comes in off a 4-0 shutout loss on the road to Colorado in their previous contest Tuesday night. Florida rallied to earn a 5-4 shootout win on the road over the Bruins Tuesday night in an Atlantic Division matchup. The teams split the last 10 meetings with the Panthers skating to a 4-2 win in the most recent matchup on the road on November 2, 2018.

Winnipeg Jets Looking to Regain Momentum

Winnipeg had won two straight and four of five before running into a brick wall known as the Avalanche. The Jets entered Wednesday tied for third in the Central Division with Nashville for the final guaranteed playoff spot: they were seven back of the Blues for the division lead. Winnipeg is 26th in goals for in the early going as they average 2.58 goals per contest. The Jets are tied for 16th in goals against as they are allowing three goals per game this season. Winnipeg is tied for 22nd on the power play as they convert 16.7 percent of their chances with the man advantage on the year. Against Colorado, Winnipeg owned a 9-8 edge shots in the opening period but skated off down 1-0 on the scoreboard. The second period saw the Jets own a 12-9 advantage in shots on goal with neither team lighting the lamp to leave the score 1-0 after two periods of play. In the final period, the Jets owned a 19-9 edge in shots on goal but were outscored 3-0 to end up with a shutout defeat. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 21 shots for Winnipeg in the game. The Jets owned a 40-25 edge in shots but couldn’t beat Colorado netminder Adam Werner. Hellebuyck is expected to be in goal for this contest as well.
