Toronto vs. Baltimore prediction.

Adley Rutschman trade chances have reached 65% on Kalshi as the Baltimore Orioles listen to offers for their three-time All-Star catcher ahead of Monday’s MLB Trade Deadline.

Baltimore is not actively shopping Rutschman, but the club is reportedly willing to consider a major offer while several contenders search for help behind the plate. Adley Rutschman Trade Chances Rise to 65% on Kalshi

Kalshi traders currently give Rutschman a 65% chance of being traded before the deadline. That makes a deal the favored outcome, although Baltimore’s high asking price leaves considerable uncertainty surrounding a possible blockbuster.

  • Adley Rutschman is traded: Approximately 65%
  • Rutschman remains with Baltimore: Approximately 35%
  • Contract control: Through the 2027 season
  • MLB Trade Deadline: Monday, August 3 at 6 p.m. ET

A Yes contract trading near 65 cents reflects the market’s collective assessment that Rutschman is more likely than not to change teams. A correct contract settles at $1, while an incorrect contract settles at zero.

The price can move rapidly during the final hours before the deadline. A report that Baltimore is nearing a deal could push the probability higher, while news that the Orioles have rejected their strongest offers could send it sharply lower.

Orioles Are Listening to Adley Rutschman Offers

Rutschman’s availability has become one of the most surprising stories of deadline week.

Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias said in June that the organization wanted Rutschman in Baltimore for the long term. He stopped short of offering the same certainty when asked about the catcher’s future closer to the deadline.

Baltimore reportedly is not calling teams in an effort to move Rutschman. The Orioles are listening when interested clubs contact them, however, and would consider a trade if another organization meets their substantial asking price.

That distinction matters. The Orioles do not need to accept the best available offer simply because the deadline has arrived. Rutschman remains under team control through the end of the 2027 season, giving Baltimore time to revisit his future during the offseason or next summer.

Why Would Baltimore Trade Rutschman Now?

The strongest argument for a trade is that Rutschman’s value may never be higher.

Quality catchers are scarce, multiple contenders need an upgrade and Rutschman offers more than a two-month rental. An acquiring team would control him for the remainder of this season and all of 2027.

Baltimore also has Samuel Basallo under a long-term contract. Basallo gives the Orioles another potential starting catcher and reduces the organizational risk of moving Rutschman.

The Orioles could use Rutschman’s trade value to address a more pressing weakness. Baltimore needs young, controllable starting pitching, and a catcher of Rutschman’s caliber could attract the type of major-league-ready arm that is rarely available in a conventional deadline deal.

There has also been little public indication that Rutschman and the Orioles are close to a long-term extension. Trading him now would prevent Baltimore from entering 2027 with diminishing leverage over a player approaching free agency.

Yankees Among Teams Linked to Adley Rutschman

The New York Yankees are one of the most prominent teams connected to the Rutschman market. New York has received limited offensive production from its catchers and could use another switch-hitter in the middle of the lineup.

An intradivision trade would come at a premium. Baltimore would have to face Rutschman regularly through at least the end of next season, making the Orioles unlikely to accept anything short of an exceptional return from New York.

The Yankees may have enough young pitching to begin a serious conversation. Whether they are willing to surrender their best controllable arms for a catcher with fewer than two full seasons remaining before free agency is another question.

Red Sox and Rays Could Join Rutschman Bidding

The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are also searching for catching help, creating the possibility of an unusual three-team bidding battle within the American League East.

Boston could view Rutschman as both a postseason upgrade and an important part of its 2027 roster. The Red Sox would face the same divisional premium as the Yankees and may need to include multiple significant young players.

Tampa Bay has the prospect depth to construct a competitive offer. The Rays must decide whether using that capital on a catcher makes sense when they also need help at second base and in the starting rotation.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox have also been associated with the broader catching market. Baltimore may prefer a comparable offer from outside the AL East to avoid strengthening a direct rival.

Rutschman’s Wrist Injury Adds Trade Uncertainty

Rutschman is recovering from left wrist inflammation, which complicates his deadline value.

An acquiring team would need confidence that he can return soon enough to contribute during the playoff race. His remaining contractual control means the injury does not eliminate his value, but it could make clubs less willing to satisfy Baltimore’s asking price.

Rutschman is batting .251 with eight home runs in 67 games this season. His current production is below the standard established earlier in his career, but he remains a switch-hitting catcher with strong plate discipline and three All-Star selections.

The wrist issue also gives Baltimore another reason to wait. The Orioles could keep him through the deadline, allow him to return to full health and explore the market again during the offseason.

Why the Orioles May Keep Adley Rutschman

Baltimore remains close enough to the American League Wild Card race that trading its starting catcher would be difficult to explain unless the return helps immediately.

The Orioles can keep Rutschman and Basallo on the same roster, using both players behind the plate, at designated hitter or elsewhere in the lineup. Moving Rutschman is not required to create playing time for Basallo.

A trade would also carry consequences beyond the field. Rutschman was the first overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft and became the central figure in Baltimore’s rebuild. He helped transform the Orioles from a rebuilding club into a postseason contender.

Those factors explain why the Orioles are demanding a major return rather than treating Rutschman like a player they must move before the deadline.

How the Kalshi Rutschman Trade Market Works

The Kalshi contract resolves Yes if Rutschman is officially traded within the period established by the market’s rules. It resolves No if he remains with Baltimore after the qualifying window closes.

Traders do not have to hold a contract until resolution. A position may be sold before the market closes at the available price, which can rise or fall with each new report.

The displayed percentage is not an independent projection from Kalshi. It is produced by the prices at which market participants are willing to buy and sell contracts.

Users should review the complete market rules before trading because the official processing time of a transaction may affect whether the contract qualifies.

Final Thoughts on Adley Rutschman Trade Chances

Adley Rutschman trade chances sitting at 65% make a deadline deal the current favorite on Kalshi, but this is not a situation in which Baltimore must accept a discounted return.

The Orioles are listening, several contenders need catching help and Basallo gives the organization another long-term option. Those factors have created a legitimate market for Rutschman.

His remaining team control, wrist injury, importance to the franchise and Baltimore’s high asking price all provide strong reasons for the Orioles to keep him.
