Blue Jays Run Line vs A's Home Struggles | BetMGM Bonus Code

By: Al MacMillan Published 09/08/2026, 05:50 PM ET

BetMGM bonus code BETMGMBONUS is available Tuesday as the Toronto Blue Jays face an Athletics team that has produced a -27.9% home run-line ROI in the current MLB betting-trends database.

Toronto is -1.5 at -110 for Tuesday night's game at Sutter Health Park, while the Blue Jays are approximately -172 on the moneyline. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET.

The price puts one of the strongest historical home-road mismatches on the September 8 slate directly into play. Toronto's road run-line return has been close to break-even, while the Athletics have consistently been expensive to back at home.

The current BetMGM bonus code is BETMGMBONUS.

BetMGM is offering eligible new customers different welcome promotions depending on their state.

In Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, the current offer is bet $10 and receive $150 in Bonus Bets if the qualifying wager wins.

A minimum $10 deposit applies to the current offers. Bonus Bets expire after seven days, and eligibility and full terms vary by jurisdiction.

BetMGM is also advertising an MLB Odds Boost this week for eligible existing customers. Those tokens can be account-specific, so bettors should check the Promotions section of the sportsbook before placing Tuesday's wager.

Athletics Home Run-Line ROI Sits at -27.9%

The most notable number in Tuesday's matchup is not Toronto's moneyline.

It is the Athletics' home run-line history.

The current Winners & Whiners MLB betting trends show the Athletics at approximately -27.9% ROI against the run line at home.

Their home moneyline results have been similarly poor at roughly -29.2% ROI.

Even the first-five-inning home profile has struggled, sitting around -20.0%.

Toronto's corresponding road run-line return is almost flat at approximately -0.4%.

That creates one of the largest run-line gaps on Tuesday's MLB board.

The trend also matters because bettors do not have to pay the Blue Jays' expensive moneyline price to take advantage of it.

Toronto is around -172 straight up.

The run line is still available at -1.5 (-110).

That asks the Blue Jays to win by at least two runs, but it keeps the price much closer to even money.

Monday's opener also showed why the margin matters.

The Athletics beat Toronto 6-5 on a walk-off, handing the Blue Jays their second consecutive loss.

Toronto does not need to erase that result from the standings Tuesday. It does need to turn a much better starting-pitching setup into enough separation to avoid another one-run game.

Soriano Gets a Major Starting-Pitcher Edge Over Perkins

The historical trend is not standing on its own.

Toronto also has the stronger starting-pitcher numbers.

José Soriano is scheduled to start for the Blue Jays with an 11-7 record and 3.52 ERA.

The Athletics counter with Jack Perkins, who enters 3-10 with a 6.50 ERA.

That nearly three-run ERA gap is one reason the market has Toronto favored heavily despite Monday's loss.

Perkins has had difficulty keeping damage from turning into multi-run innings, exactly the type of problem that matters when backing a favorite on the run line.

Toronto does not need seven or eight runs to cover.

It needs Soriano to control the Athletics long enough for the Blue Jays to create a lead of at least two.

The Athletics enter Tuesday at 58-87, while Toronto is 72-73 and remains within range of the American League playoff race. MLB had Tuesday's starting lineups still unconfirmed earlier in the day, so bettors should check the final batting orders before first pitch.

The full Winners & Whiners MLB picks board also has Toronto -1.5 as the preferred way to approach this matchup rather than laying the heavier moneyline price.

Blue Jays -1.5 Is the Market to Watch Tuesday Night

The combination is unusually straightforward.

The Athletics have been one of the weakest home run-line teams in the current betting database.

Toronto's road run-line history is roughly neutral.

Soriano owns a 3.52 ERA.

Perkins is at 6.50.

And the market is still offering Toronto -1.5 at approximately -110 rather than requiring bettors to lay close to -175 on the moneyline.

That does not mean the historical ROI guarantees another Athletics loss against the spread. Betting trends describe what has happened, not what must happen next.

But Tuesday's setup gives the trend considerably more support than a historical number alone.

The current price, starting pitchers and home-road results are all pointing toward the same question: can Toronto turn its pitching advantage into a multi-run victory?

For bettors looking at the entire slate, our MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, September 8th cover additional games and current prices.

For this late game, Toronto -1.5 remains the number to monitor.

If the run-line price moves materially beyond -110 before first pitch, the value changes even if the matchup does not.

At the current number, the Blue Jays get another opportunity to test one of the ugliest home run-line trends on Tuesday's board.
