The Chicago White Sox won.
Arizona won while Philadelphia lost.
And San Diego's victory over Los Angeles effectively removed the Padres from Arizona's reach in the National League Wild Card standings.
That leaves two genuine "who gets into October?" races entering Friday night.
Houston and Texas are tied atop the AL West at 79-80 with three games remaining.
Philadelphia leads Arizona by two games for the final National League Wild Card position.
There is also a major seeding race in the AL Central, where Cleveland leads Chicago by one game with a first-round bye at stake.
Kalshi's Friday markets reflect all three battles.
Houston is currently favored over Texas to win the AL West, while Cleveland holds a smaller advantage over Chicago in the Central.

MLB Playoff Odds Entering Friday Night
The main playoff races are now concentrated around five teams.
Houston and Texas are fighting for one AL West playoff berth.
Philadelphia and Arizona are fighting over the final NL Wild Card.
Cleveland and Chicago have already secured postseason spots, but their division race determines who receives the American League's No. 2 seed and a first-round bye.
Current Kalshi markets Friday afternoon put the major races around:
- Houston Astros to win AL West: 69%
- Texas Rangers to win AL West: 31%
- Cleveland Guardians to win AL Central: 57%
- Chicago White Sox to win AL Central: 40%
Those prices can move quickly because all four teams play Friday night.
Astros and Rangers Are Playing for One Playoff Spot
The AL West is now the cleanest playoff race in baseball.
Houston and Texas are both 79-80.
Both have three games remaining.
Houston owns the head-to-head tiebreaker.
That gives the Astros a simple advantage: if Houston matches Texas result-for-result over the final three games, Houston wins the division.
Texas has to gain at least one game on the Astros.
There is effectively no Wild Card escape route for the loser.
Cleveland and Chicago have secured the remaining American League postseason positions, meaning the AL West champion takes the final place in the six-team field.
That is why Kalshi's division market currently favors Houston approximately 69% to 31%.
The standings are tied.
The market is not, because Houston owns the tiebreaker.
Rangers vs Twins Is Nearly a 50-50 Market
Texas gets the first move Friday.
The Rangers visit Minnesota at 8:10 p.m. ET.
Kalshi currently prices the game almost exactly evenly:
- Texas Rangers: 50%
- Minnesota Twins: 50%
That makes Rangers-Twins one of Friday's most consequential coin-flip markets.
A Texas win temporarily puts pressure on Houston.
A Texas loss gives the Astros an opportunity to move one full game ahead with only two remaining.
The Rangers cannot simply keep pace with Houston because of the tiebreaker.
They need to finish with a better record.
Astros Have a 58% Chance to Beat the Athletics
Houston begins its game in Sacramento at 9:40 p.m. ET.
Kalshi currently gives the Astros approximately a 58% chance to beat the Athletics.
The A's are around 42%.
That makes Houston a favorite Friday, but hardly an overwhelming one.
And unlike most late-September games involving a sub-.500 team, the result has direct postseason consequences.
Houston's advantage is structural.
If both Texas and Houston win, nothing changes.
If both lose, nothing changes.
If Houston wins while Texas loses, the Astros take a one-game lead with two to play.
If Texas wins and Houston loses, the Rangers move one game ahead and finally take control of their own path.
Every difference in Friday's two results changes who controls the division.
Phillies Loss Reopened the Door for Arizona
Arizona's playoff path looked almost closed entering Thursday.
Then the Diamondbacks beat Colorado 12-8 while Milwaukee beat Philadelphia 5-1.
Arizona is now 85-74.
Philadelphia is 87-72.
Each team has three games remaining.
Most importantly, Arizona owns the tiebreaker over Philadelphia.
That means one Phillies win does not automatically eliminate the Diamondbacks.
If Philadelphia wins Friday and Arizona also wins, Philadelphia moves to 88 wins while Arizona moves to 86.
Arizona could still win the final two games, finish 88-74 and advance through the tiebreaker if Philadelphia lost its remaining two.
The elimination number is effectively two.
How Arizona Can Be Eliminated Friday
The Friday equation is straightforward.
A Phillies win plus a Diamondbacks loss eliminates Arizona.
Philadelphia would move to 88-72.
Arizona would fall to 85-75 with only two games remaining, leaving the Diamondbacks with a maximum of 87 wins.
Arizona would no longer be able to catch Philadelphia.
But one Phillies win alone is not enough.
And one Arizona loss alone is not enough.
That links two games separated by three hours and three time zones.
Tampa Bay plays Philadelphia at 6:40 p.m. ET.
Arizona plays San Diego at 9:40 p.m. ET.
Phillies Are 60% Favorites Against Tampa Bay
Philadelphia gets the first opportunity to increase the pressure.
Kalshi currently gives the Phillies approximately a 60% chance to beat Tampa Bay.
The Rays are around 40%.
That game matters to Arizona almost as much as its own.
If Philadelphia loses, the Diamondbacks know they will remain alive regardless of what happens later in San Diego.
If Philadelphia wins, Arizona's game becomes a true elimination game.
The Diamondbacks would have to beat the Padres to survive into Saturday.
Diamondbacks Have a 45% Chance to Beat San Diego
Arizona does not have an easy matchup.
The Diamondbacks open a three-game series in San Diego, and Kalshi currently makes the Padres a slight favorite.
Current market:
- San Diego Padres: 55%
- Arizona Diamondbacks: 45%
The Padres improved to 89-70 with Thursday's victory over the Dodgers.
That means Arizona can no longer catch San Diego in the Wild Card standings.
The Diamondbacks' only remaining path runs through Philadelphia.
Arizona essentially needs to keep winning while hoping Tampa Bay can take at least one or two games from the Phillies.
Friday is the first test.
Guardians and White Sox Are Playing for a First-Round Bye
The American League Central race no longer determines who makes the postseason.
Both Cleveland and Chicago are in.
It still carries major consequences.
Cleveland enters Friday at 83-76.
Chicago is 82-77.
The Guardians lead by one game.
But Chicago owns the tiebreaker.
That means a tie after 162 games gives the division to the White Sox.
The division champion will also finish as the American League's No. 2 seed and receive a bye through the Wild Card Series.
The runner-up falls into the Wild Card round.
Kalshi currently gives Cleveland approximately a 57% chance to win the AL Central, compared with roughly 40% for Chicago.
White Sox Are 67% Favorites Against Colorado
Chicago has the softer matchup on paper Friday.
The White Sox host the Rockies at 7:40 p.m. ET.
Kalshi currently gives Chicago approximately a 67% chance to win.
Colorado is around 33%.
Cleveland plays at Kansas City at the same time.
The Guardians are a much smaller favorite, around 55%.
That creates an interesting setup.
Cleveland controls the standings.
Chicago owns the tiebreaker and has the stronger Friday game probability.
If Chicago wins and Cleveland loses, the teams would enter Saturday tied, with the White Sox holding the effective advantage.
Five MLB Games That Control the Playoff Picture Friday
Friday's postseason board can be followed through five games.
6:40 p.m. ET, Rays at Phillies
Philadelphia can move Arizona to the edge of elimination.
7:40 p.m. ET, Guardians at Royals
Cleveland tries to protect its one-game AL Central lead and the No. 2 seed.
7:40 p.m. ET, Rockies at White Sox
Chicago tries to pull even with Cleveland while holding the division tiebreaker.
8:10 p.m. ET, Rangers at Twins
Texas needs to gain a game on Houston sometime this weekend.
9:40 p.m. ET, Astros at Athletics
Houston only needs to keep matching Texas.
9:40 p.m. ET, Diamondbacks at Padres
Arizona could be playing an elimination game depending on the Philadelphia result.
Three Biggest MLB Markets to Watch Friday
If the board is narrowed to three games, the most important are clear.
1. Rangers at Twins
Texas is around 50% to win and must outperform Houston over the final three games.
2. Astros at Athletics
Houston is around 58% Friday and around 69% to win the AL West because it owns the tiebreaker.
3. Diamondbacks at Padres
Arizona is around 45% to win and could be eliminated with a loss if Philadelphia beats Tampa Bay earlier in the evening.
Those three games carry the strongest direct "win this race or miss October" implications.

Friday Could Decide Two MLB Playoff Spots
The standings finally make the last weekend simple.
Houston and Texas are tied.
Only one gets the AL West playoff berth.
Houston owns the tiebreaker, so Texas has to gain a game.
Philadelphia leads Arizona by two.
Arizona owns that tiebreaker, so the Diamondbacks remain alive if they can force a tie.
And while Cleveland and Chicago are both safely in October, their one-game race determines which team gets to skip the Wild Card round.
Friday could settle some of it.
A Phillies win combined with an Arizona loss ends the NL Wild Card race.
Different results in the Texas and Houston games could completely flip control of the AL West.
Different results in Kansas City and Chicago could erase Cleveland's AL Central lead.
Three games remain.
At this point, almost every result changes the bracket.
