Rays 56% to Even ALCS vs Guardians | Kalshi Promo Code

By: Alex MacMillan Published 10/13/2026, 07:25 PM ET

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Tuesday night's ALCS Game 2 in a position few expected less than 24 hours ago. Cleveland rallied from an early deficit to win the opener 7-3, taking a 1-0 series lead and immediately changing the prediction-market outlook for the American League Championship Series.

Kalshi now gives Cleveland approximately a 57% chance to win the series, with Tampa Bay around 43%. The Rays, however, remain the favorite in Game 2 itself. Tampa Bay is currently priced around 56% to beat Cleveland tonight, compared with approximately 44% for the Guardians.

That creates a compelling split between the short-term and series markets. Cleveland has taken control of the ALCS, but traders still expect Tampa Bay to respond at home behind Freddy Peralta before the series moves to Cleveland.

The change is especially notable because Tampa Bay entered the series as the clear prediction-market favorite. Our Rays pennant odds update before Game 1 had Tampa Bay around 62% to win the American League. One loss has significantly altered that picture.

Rays Have 56% Chance to Win ALCS Game 2

The Game 2 prediction market still gives Tampa Bay a narrow but meaningful advantage. The Rays are currently around 56% to win Tuesday night, while Cleveland sits near 44%.

Traditional betting markets tell a similar story, with Tampa Bay entering as a modest home favorite. Our full Guardians vs Rays ALCS Game 2 prediction examines that conventional moneyline, the total and the pitching matchup in more detail.

The important distinction is that Tampa Bay being favored Tuesday does not mean the Rays remain favored to win the series. Cleveland's Game 1 victory was valuable enough to reverse that market, leaving the Guardians with approximately a 57% chance to advance and Tampa Bay around 43%.

That puts significant pressure on the Rays. A victory would even the series before the matchup shifts to Progressive Field. A loss would send Tampa Bay to Cleveland trailing 2-0 against a Guardians team that has already won four consecutive postseason games.

Cleveland Flipped Game 1 After Tampa Bay Took Control

For six innings Monday, the series looked much more like the version traders expected entering the ALCS. Tampa Bay scored twice in the first inning and Drew Rasmussen kept Cleveland under control, allowing the Rays to carry a 2-1 lead into the seventh.

Then the game changed quickly. Patrick Bailey homered to tie it in the seventh, Nathaniel Lowe delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth, and Cleveland added three more runs in the ninth to turn a close game into a 7-3 victory.

The Guardians finished with 14 hits and scored six of their seven runs over the final four innings. Chase DeLauter also homered and produced three hits as Cleveland's lineup continued the surge that carried it through the final three games of the ALDS.

The late rally was another example of how quickly postseason markets can move. Cleveland went from facing elimination against Chicago to winning three straight games, then immediately took Game 1 from the American League's top seed.

That run began with the winner-take-all Division Series game we covered in our Guardians-White Sox Game 5 prediction-market update. Cleveland has not lost since.

Freddy Peralta Gives Rays a Strong Game 2 Response

The strongest reason Tampa Bay remains favored Tuesday is Freddy Peralta. His full-season numbers were not dominant, but his form entering October has been considerably stronger.

Peralta went 5-0 with a 0.93 ERA over his final seven regular-season starts beginning August 26. He carried that improvement into the Division Series, holding the Yankees to one run on three hits over 4 2/3 innings.

His fastball also showed additional life in that outing. Peralta leaned heavily on the four-seamer and increased his average velocity from 94.3 mph to 96.8 mph, giving Tampa Bay reason to believe the version of Peralta taking the mound in October is stronger than his 10-11 regular-season record and 4.42 ERA suggest.

He enters Game 2 with a 1.93 ERA in his lone postseason appearance this year. Tampa Bay does not necessarily need seven innings from him, but the Rays need a cleaner bridge into their bullpen than they received Monday night.

Parker Messick Can Challenge the Rays Again

Cleveland counters with Parker Messick, one of the strongest young starting pitchers in baseball this season. The 25-year-old left-hander finished 12-9 with a 2.56 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and 193 strikeouts across 186 1/3 innings.

Messick's most recent postseason outing was much less convincing. He walked four batters and lasted only 2 1/3 innings in Game 4 of the ALDS against Chicago, creating legitimate questions about his command entering the Championship Series.

There is also reason for Cleveland to feel comfortable with this specific matchup. Messick faced Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field on July 26 and allowed just one run over 7 2/3 innings.

He also grew up near Tampa and attended games at Tropicana Field as a child, giving Game 2 a personal homecoming element even though he will be pitching for the visiting team.

If Messick can rediscover his regular-season command, Cleveland has a realistic opportunity to leave Tampa with a two-game series lead. If the walks return, the Rays have enough patient hitters to make the night considerably shorter.

Rays Need More From Their Lineup

Tampa Bay's pitching was not the only reason Game 1 slipped away. The Rays scored twice immediately but were unable to create sustained pressure after the opening inning.

Junior Caminero drove in a run, but Tampa Bay's most important hitters did not produce enough damage once Cleveland settled into the game. Jonathan Aranda, who had been one of Tampa Bay's better hitters in the Division Series, went hitless in the opener.

The Game 2 lineup again begins with Yandy DĂaz, Aranda and Caminero, followed by Victor Mesa Jr., Jonny DeLuca and Chandler Simpson. Tampa Bay needs that group to force Messick into difficult counts and prevent Cleveland from quickly handing the game to its strongest relievers.

The challenge is that Messick's changeup was particularly effective against right-handed hitters during the regular season. Tampa Bay has responded by adding more left-handed balance to the lineup rather than simply stacking right-handed bats against the Cleveland lefty.

José Ramírez Remains Cleveland's Biggest Threat

José Ramírez continues to drive Cleveland's offense and enters Game 2 batting .348 this postseason with a 1.183 OPS and eight RBIs through six games.

RamĂrez has driven in a run in four consecutive postseason games, matching one of the longest such streaks in franchise playoff history. His ability to create pressure goes well beyond his bat, as Tampa Bay also has to account for his speed and aggressiveness whenever he reaches base.

The supporting cast is making that strategy increasingly difficult. Opponents cannot simply pitch around RamĂrez when DeLauter, Lowe and the rest of Cleveland's lineup are producing behind him.

That was evident Monday. DeLauter collected three hits, Bailey homered and Lowe delivered the decisive two-run single. Cleveland's offense no longer looks like a group waiting exclusively for RamĂrez to create everything.

Cleveland's Bullpen Is Still Available

One concern entering the ALCS was whether Cleveland's pitching staff would be exhausted after needing five games to eliminate Chicago. Game 1 did little to support that concern.

The Guardians' bullpen kept Tampa Bay within reach after a difficult opening inning, allowing the offense enough time to eventually take control. Hunter Gaddis, Erik Sabrowski and Cade Smith all remain available for Game 2, with Smith needing only six pitches to complete a clean ninth Monday.

That gives Cleveland another path to victory even if Messick does not work deep into the game. The Guardians can ask him for four or five competitive innings and then begin deploying the relief group that helped stabilize Game 1.

Tampa Bay remains relatively fresh as well, although Cole Sulser is unlikely to be available after throwing 27 pitches Monday. Ian Seymour could also be limited after working in Game 1 following a season spent primarily as a starter. Closer Bryan Baker, however, was not needed and should be available.

The latest 2026 MLB betting trends provide useful context for why the Rays continue to receive market respect even after losing Game 1.

Tampa Bay ranked first in baseball in moneyline ROI in the latest published update at 101-64, +24.95 units and +11.7%. The Rays also performed well across several other season-long betting categories, establishing themselves as one of the most consistently profitable teams on the board.

That historical strength does not erase Monday's result. It does help explain why traders have not abandoned Tampa Bay after one loss. The Rays won 98 games during the regular season, swept the Yankees in the Division Series and spent much of 2026 rewarding bettors who backed them in winner markets.

Cleveland presents a different case. The Guardians have become more dangerous as October has progressed, and their current four-game postseason winning streak matters far more to Tuesday's matchup than many of their less impressive regular-season betting numbers.

The Series Market Has Already Made a Major Move

The most interesting prediction-market development is not simply Tampa Bay's 56% Game 2 price. It is the reversal in the broader series market.

Before the ALCS began, Tampa Bay was favored to represent the American League in the World Series. After Cleveland won the opener, the Guardians moved to approximately 57% to win the series and Tampa Bay fell to roughly 43%.

That swing demonstrates how valuable a road Game 1 victory can be in a best-of-seven series. Cleveland has already taken home-field advantage away from the Rays and now needs three wins from a potential six remaining games.

Tampa Bay's path is still straightforward. Win Tuesday, make the series 1-1 and travel to Cleveland with the matchup essentially reset. That scenario helps explain why Game 2 attracts so much attention even though the Rays would not be eliminated by a loss.

Rays vs Guardians Game 2 Odds

The prediction market currently gives Tampa Bay approximately a 56% chance to win Game 2, compared with around 44% for Cleveland. The series market tells the opposite story, with Cleveland around 57% to advance and the Rays near 43%.

That divergence makes Tuesday one of the more interesting MLB prediction-market setups of the postseason. Tampa Bay is favored to win tonight but is the underdog to win the series because Cleveland already owns the first victory.

Tampa Bay Favored to Answer Cleveland in Game 2

Cleveland changed the ALCS with one late-game rally. The Guardians erased Tampa Bay's early lead, scored six times over the final four innings and transformed themselves from series underdogs into the current prediction-market favorite to reach the World Series.

The Rays still have an immediate opportunity to respond. Peralta enters in his best form of the season, Tampa Bay remains at home and the Game 2 market gives the Rays approximately a 56% chance to even the series.

Messick and Cleveland have plenty working in their favor. The Guardians have won four straight postseason games, RamĂrez remains productive and their bullpen came through again Monday. A second road victory would send Cleveland home with complete control of the matchup.

The prediction market expects Tampa Bay to prevent that scenario tonight. The Rays are favored in Game 2, but after what happened Monday, the broader ALCS market now belongs to Cleveland.
