Rays 62% to Win AL Pennant | Kalshi Promo Code
The Tampa Bay Rays enter the American League Championship Series as the prediction-market favorite to reach the World Series, with Kalshi currently giving Tampa Bay approximately a 62% chance to win the AL pennant. Cleveland sits around 39%, while the separate best-of-seven series market also favors the Rays at roughly 59%.
That advantage carries into Monday night's opener. Tampa Bay is priced around 60% to win Game 1 at Tropicana Field after sweeping the New York Yankees in the Division Series and getting four full days to reset its pitching staff. Cleveland arrives on a much shorter turnaround after surviving a five-game ALDS against the Chicago White Sox, winning three consecutive elimination games after falling behind 2-0.
The pitching matchup also favors the rested home team. Drew Rasmussen starts for Tampa Bay after carrying a no-hitter into the eighth inning of his ALDS outing, while Cleveland turns to Foster Griffin for his first career postseason start. For a complete breakdown of the matchup, starting pitchers and traditional betting market, see our Guardians vs Rays ALCS Game 1 prediction.

Rays Have 62% Chance to Win AL Pennant
Tampa Bay holds the clearest prediction-market advantage entering the series. Kalshi currently has the Rays at approximately 62% to win the American League pennant, with Cleveland around 39%. The dedicated ALCS series market is slightly closer, pricing Tampa Bay around 59% and the Guardians near 41%.
Those numbers make the Rays the favorite without suggesting Cleveland has only a remote chance. The Guardians just demonstrated how quickly postseason probabilities can change. Chicago won the first two games of the Division Series and appeared to have complete control, but Cleveland responded with three consecutive victories to advance.
The reversal was particularly dramatic because Chicago had been heavily favored to move on earlier in the series. Our White Sox ALCS odds update had Chicago around 73% to advance before Cleveland completed the comeback.
Tampa Bay Is Favored in Game 1
The Game 1 market follows the same basic pattern as the pennant market. Tampa Bay is currently around 60% to beat Cleveland in the opener, while the Guardians sit near 40%. The Rays have home-field advantage, the more rested pitching staff and their preferred starter ready to go.
Cleveland's turnaround is much tighter. The Guardians were still playing Saturday night, when they eliminated Chicago 2-0 in Game 5. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, has been preparing specifically for the ALCS since completing its sweep of New York.
That rest gap is one of the central factors in our full Cleveland-Tampa Bay Game 1 analysis. It does not guarantee a Rays victory, but it gives Tampa Bay more control over how it deploys its rotation and bullpen from the beginning of the series.
Drew Rasmussen Gives Tampa Bay the Starting-Pitching Edge
Rasmussen gets the ball for Tampa Bay after delivering one of the strongest pitching performances of the Division Series. He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Yankees and finished the outing with 10 strikeouts, one hit allowed and no runs.
The Rays' sweep means Rasmussen did not need to return for another Division Series appearance. Instead, Tampa Bay can start the ALCS with its top arm fully rested and a bullpen that did not have to navigate Games 4 or 5.
That is a difficult opening assignment for a Cleveland offense that just spent five games trying to survive Chicago. The Guardians eventually found enough production to advance, but Rasmussen presents a significantly different challenge than a tired postseason pitching staff.
Foster Griffin Starts Game 1 for Cleveland
Cleveland will counter with left-hander Foster Griffin, who is making his first career postseason start. Griffin earned the opportunity with an impressive relief performance against Chicago in Game 3, striking out seven over 2 2/3 innings as the Guardians began their comeback.
His role is much different Monday. Instead of entering after the game has already developed, Griffin has to establish the matchup from the opening inning against the American League's top seed.
Cleveland does not necessarily need Griffin to match Rasmussen inning for inning. The Guardians need him to keep Tampa Bay within reach and give their high-leverage relievers a manageable game. That formula worked repeatedly during the Division Series, but executing it less than 48 hours after Game 5 will be another test.
Cleveland's ALDS Comeback Required Everything
The Guardians earned their place in the ALCS the difficult way. After losing Games 1 and 2 to Chicago, Cleveland won 9-3 in Game 3, 9-5 in Game 4 and 2-0 in the deciding fifth game.
We tracked the final stage of the comeback in our Guardians 56% to beat the White Sox in Game 5 market story. Cleveland entered that winner-take-all matchup as only a slight favorite before finishing the comeback at Progressive Field.
Winning three consecutive elimination games says plenty about Cleveland's ability to handle pressure. It also came at a cost. The Guardians had to manage every pitching decision as if there were no tomorrow, because there was not going to be one without a victory.
Tampa Bay spent those same days resting. The Rays enter Monday in the more favorable physical position, while Cleveland enters with the momentum that comes from surviving three straight must-win games.
MLB Betting Trends Have Favored Tampa Bay
The broader season-long betting numbers also support Tampa Bay's position as the favorite. In the latest published 2026 MLB betting trends update, the Rays ranked first in baseball in moneyline ROI at 101-64, +24.95 units and +11.7%.
Tampa Bay also ranked second in the run-line standings at +9.0% ROI and second in the first-five run-line table at +9.7%. Cleveland's corresponding results were much more modest, with the Guardians sitting at 87-79 and -1.1% ROI in the moneyline table, 79-86 and -5.2% against the run line, and 83-83 with a -4.7% first-five run-line ROI.
Those historical results do not determine what happens in Game 1. They do provide useful context for why Tampa Bay has consistently been one of the stronger market teams throughout 2026. The Rays have not simply accumulated wins; they have frequently produced those wins at prices that rewarded bettors backing them.
Rays Controlled the Regular-Season Series
Tampa Bay also has the head-to-head results in its favor. The Rays went 5-1 against Cleveland during the regular season and outscored the Guardians 20-8.
The aggregate numbers make the matchup appear one-sided, but the individual games were more competitive. Five of the six meetings were decided by three runs or fewer, and three were decided by one run.
That distinction matters in a postseason series. Tampa Bay consistently found ways to finish games against Cleveland, but the Guardians were rarely completely out of them. A similar pattern in the ALCS would put enormous importance on bullpen management, defensive execution and late-game at-bats.

Tampa Bay Earned Home-Field Advantage
The Rays finished the regular season 98-64 and earned the No. 1 seed in the American League. Cleveland went 85-77 and entered October with a much narrower margin for error.
Tampa Bay was particularly strong at Tropicana Field, where it went 55-26 during the regular season. The Rays host Games 1 and 2 and would also get Games 6 and 7 at home if the series lasts that long.
Home field is not an automatic postseason advantage, especially against a Cleveland team that has already survived elimination pressure. Still, the structure of the series favors Tampa Bay before the first pitch is thrown. The Rays have the better regular-season record, the rest advantage and four potential home games.
JosĂ© RamĂrez Gives Cleveland Its Best Counter
If Cleveland is going to overturn the market, JosĂ© RamĂrez is likely to be central to the effort. After a slow opening to the Division Series, RamĂrez became one of the primary reasons the Guardians were able to reverse it.
Over the final three games against Chicago, RamĂrez went 5-for-12 with four extra-base hits, seven RBIs and five runs scored. His two-run home run in Game 5 supplied all the offense Cleveland needed in its 2-0 victory.
Tampa Bay's pitching staff cannot allow him to become the same kind of series-changing force in the ALCS. Cleveland's lineup looks very different when RamĂrez is reaching base, producing extra-base damage and forcing opposing pitchers to work around him.
Cleveland Needs More Than RamĂrez
One hitter cannot carry an offense through a best-of-seven series. Steven Kwan, Chase DeLauter, Jo Adell and the rest of Cleveland's lineup will need to create pressure if the Guardians are going to make Tampa Bay use its bullpen aggressively.
Cleveland finished the regular season with a .696 team OPS, while Tampa Bay finished at .728. Neither offense depends entirely on overwhelming home-run production, so the series could be determined as much by situational hitting, baserunning and defensive execution as by power.
That style fits Cleveland's preferred path. The Guardians want to keep games close, reach the later innings with a chance and allow their best relievers and hitters to decide the result. The difficulty is that Tampa Bay has shown it can win exactly that type of game as well.
Rays Have More Than One Way to Generate Offense
Tampa Bay's lineup gives the Rays several ways to create pressure. Yandy DĂaz and Jonathan Aranda can set the table near the top of the order, while Junior Caminero provides a major power threat in the middle.
The Rays can also score when the home run is not available. They have enough contact ability and baserunning pressure to move runners and manufacture opportunities, which becomes increasingly important against stronger postseason pitching.
That versatility is one reason Tampa Bay finished with the best record in the American League. Cleveland can build its plan around limiting the Rays' biggest power threats, but Tampa Bay does not have to win every game with the same offensive formula.
Game 1 Could Immediately Change the Series
Cleveland's opportunity is straightforward. If Griffin can neutralize Tampa Bay's rest advantage and the Guardians steal Game 1, they immediately take home-field advantage away from the Rays and turn the series into a much different proposition.
A Tampa Bay victory creates the opposite scenario. The Rays would lead 1-0, remain at home for Game 2 and force Cleveland to begin chasing another series almost immediately after completing its comeback against Chicago.
That gives Monday's opener more importance than a routine Game 1. Tampa Bay has a chance to establish control before Cleveland can fully reset. The Guardians have a chance to prove their Division Series comeback was the beginning of a deeper postseason run.
Rays vs Guardians ALCS Odds
The current prediction markets all point toward Tampa Bay, although none suggest Cleveland is without a realistic path. The Rays are approximately 62% to win the American League pennant, about 59% to win the ALCS itself and around 60% to take Game 1.
Cleveland sits around 39% in the pennant market, approximately 41% in the series market and roughly 40% in Monday night's opener. The consistency across those markets is important because traders are not merely reacting to one starting-pitching matchup. Tampa Bay is being favored at the game, series and pennant levels.
That aligns with the broader 2026 numbers. The Rays were the top moneyline ROI team in the latest MLB betting trends rankings, controlled the regular-season series against Cleveland and enter the ALCS with the fresher pitching staff.

Tampa Bay Favored to Reach the World Series
The Rays enter the ALCS with nearly every structural advantage available. They finished with the better regular-season record, swept their Division Series, have home-field advantage and can start Rasmussen on full rest. Their season-long betting results were also among the strongest in baseball, reinforcing how consistently Tampa Bay has delivered relative to market prices.
Cleveland brings a different kind of momentum. The Guardians were pushed to the brink by Chicago and responded with three consecutive elimination victories. RamĂrez is swinging the bat well, Griffin earned his Game 1 opportunity with a dominant relief appearance, and Cleveland has already shown it can survive when the series situation moves sharply against it.
The prediction market still prefers Tampa Bay. Kalshi currently gives the Rays approximately a 62% chance to win the American League pennant and advance to the World Series. Monday night gives Tampa Bay its first opportunity to validate that pricing and Cleveland its first opportunity to overturn it.
