2023 NFL Draft Betting Preview-Cornerbacks

In the passing era, cornerbacks are one of the crucial positions to add. Let’s take a look at the top 10 cornerbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft as we head towards April 27-29 from Kansas City. The top cornerback expected to be drafted is Devon Witherspoon (-270), followed by Christian Gonzalez (+180).

1)Devon Witherspoon, 5-11, 181, Illinois

Witherspoon is the best pure corner in the draft even if he doesn’t have all the measurables. Good tackler who is very aggressive and ran a decent 4.45 time. Very good in man coverage and had 17 passes defensed last season.

2)Christian Gonzalez, 6-1, 197, Oregon

He had tremendous speed (4.38 40 and good size. A former track star who is physical and can play press coverage. Had four picks and 11 passes defensed at Oregon after transferring from Colorado.

3)Joey Porter Jr., 6-2, 193, Penn State

Porter has the size and aggressive nature to be a very good corner. His aggression can hurt at times when it comes to penalties. He allowed just one catch of 15-plys yards allowed.

4)Deonte Banks, 6-0, 197, Maryland

Sturdy corner who can fly (4.35 40) and is a very good tackler. Also has a 42-inch vertical leap. Needs to work on technique.

5)Emmanuel Forbes, 6-1, 166, Mississippi State

Forbes started all three seasons in the SEC. Had 14 picks in his career and is a ball hawk. Also has elite speed (4.35) and the height, but needs to add some muscle.

6)Cam Smith, 6-1, 180, South Carolina

You can’t go wrong going with big and fast (4.43 40) SEC cornerbacks who are very aggressive (20 passes defensed L2yrs). Not great against the run and had 10 penalties in 2022 according to PFF.

7)Kelee Ringo, 6-2, 207, Georgia

Another SEC corner with great size and speed (4.36 40). Ringo struggled in the national semifinal against Ohio State, but at that size, he’s not going to struggle against the run.

8)D.J. Turner, 5-11, 178, Michigan

Turner is one of the fastest players in the draft (4.26 40), The problem is a lack of production, lack of size and length. His speed can make up for some of his issues. Probably not a No. 1 corner.

9)Tyrique Stevenson, 6-0, 198, Miami (Fla.)

Stevenson has the size and speed (4.45 40) that all teams like. He started his career at Georgia but excelled at Miami. He’s stiff at times and that’s where quicker receivers can get him.

10)Clark Phillips, 5-9, 184, Utah

Whenever you see 5-foot-9 and 4.51 40, it screams nickel corner. Phillips had six picks last season and two pick-6’s. He just produces.
