Arsenal vs. Liverpool Prediction, 7/15/20

Trailing the top-six by five points with three games remaining, 9th-placed Arsenal will try to get back on track while hosting newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool, who haven’t done that well on their travels lately. Kick-off - at 15:15 PM ET on Wednesday, July 15.

Arsenal Lose To Spurs

A four-game unbeaten run (W3 D1) ended for Arsenal, who were edged out by Tottenham Hotspur with a count of 2-1 in their North London derby away at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. In a tightly contested match, Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring in the 16th minute with his ninth strike of the season, only for the hosts to tie the game 70 seconds later, eventually adding the winner with nine minutes remaining on the clock. The Gunners have now dropped 21 points from winning positions in the league this year, with only West Ham United faring worse (24). The team is 9th in the standings (W12 D14 L9), five points below the top-six.

Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leads Arsenal with 20 Premier League goals this year. Argentinian Emiliano Martinez, meanwhile, occupies the 25th position in the EPL’s goalkeeper chart, having turned away 20 shots in six appearances during the ongoing campaign. He has recorded three clean sheets and concedes a goal every 100 minutes of play. Arsenal are 7th in most goals netted this season (51), 15th in most shots recorded per game (10.9), 6th in ball possession (53.1%) and 4th in passing accuracy (83.7%).

Liverpool Draw With Burnley

Newly-crowned champions Liverpool will not match Sunderland’s 128-year-old record of winning every league home game of a season after ending their 100% win record on own turf during the current campaign with a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Anfield on Saturday. The Reds controlled the ball 71% of the time and outshot the visitors 23-6, but saw Andrew Robertson’s first-half opener canceled out in the following frame. Liverpool remain unbeaten in 58 successive Premier League home outings and can still beat Manchester City’s 100-point record in a single season, reaching 102 points in case of victories in their last three games.

Having netted 19 times in the league this season, Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah leads the Reds in scoring. Goalie Alisson, meanwhile, sits 20th in the EPL with 55 saves for the year. He has recorded 13 clean sheets in 26 contests during the ongoing campaign and allows a marker every 134 minutes on average. Liverpool has scored the 2nd highest number of league goals this season (76) while taking the 3rd highest amount of shots per game (15.5). The team is 2nd in ball possession (59.4%) and 3rd in passing accuracy (84.2%).

Prediction

Liverpool has beaten Arsenal in their last three meetings in all competitions. Still, three of the previous four encounters between the two sides in London, including the very last two, finished on level terms. And another draw is definitely the most realistic possibility here! The Gunners are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League home games (W5 D2), but have struggled against the current top-four this season (D2 L5), while the Reds have managed to post just a single win on their previous six travels in all competitions (W1 D1 L4).
