Diggs’ Trade Improves Houston’s Super Bowl Odds

Houston has made some major moves during this off-season, but it was capped off by adding veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs from Buffalo for a 2025 second-round pick. The Texans also received a 2024 sixth-rounder and a 2025 fifth-rounder.

According to BetMGM, Houston’s Super Bowl Odds went from 25-1 (+2500) to 15-1 (+1500). Meanwhile, the Bills’ odds went from 12-1 (+1200) to 14-1 (+1400).

Buffalo’s odds didn’t move a lot, but when you look at the fact that they lost Gabe Davis and Diggs thus far in the off-season, Josh Allen’s receiving corps now includes Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins and Khalil Shakir.

The trade was a complex one because Buffalo will take on $31 million in dead money for the 2024 season, but will save more than $27 million in 2025. Diggs was set to begin a four-year, $70 million extension.

Houston already added running back Joe Mixon from Cincinnati in a trade and signed productive defensive ends Danielle Hunter and Denico Autry. This is the first time in NFL history that a team will add a player coming off a season with 100 or more catches in Diggs, 1,000 or more rushing yards in Mixon and 10 or more sacks in Hunter and Autry according to CBS Sports Research. The Texans also brought in CB Jeff Okudah as a free agent from Atlanta. The big corner has not quite reached his potential after being drafted third overall by the Lions in 2020 out of Ohio State.

The Texans also added to their defense by signing LB Azeez Al-Shaair, who had 87 tackles for Tennessee last season and a pick.
