English Premier League Soccer - Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace, 6/24/20 - Preview, Prediction & Odds

Rapidly closing in on their first top-division trophy in 30 years, Liverpool will host 9th-placed Crystal Palace, who have won their last four Premier League contests. Kick-off - at 15:15 PM ET on Wednesday, June 24.

Liverpool Draw At Everton

Soon-to-be-champions Liverpool dropped points in the Premier League only for the third time this season after earning a goalless draw against Everton in their Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Sunday. Extending their unbeaten run versus Toffees to 22 fixtures in all competitions (W11 D11), the Reds controlled the ball 70% of the time and outshot the hosts 10-8, but failed to get on the scoresheet for the second time in their past three league contests (W1 D1 L1). Sitting at the top of England’s top division with a W27 D2 L1 record, Liverpool need just five points to clinch their first top-flight trophy in 30 years.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are just two goals apart at the top of Liverpool’s scoring table, having buried 16 and 14 league markers respectively. Goalie Alisson, meanwhile, has made 48 saves this year, ranking 20th in the league. He has picked up 11 clean sheets in 21 matches during the ongoing campaign and allows a goal every 166 minutes on average. The Reds have scored the 2nd highest number of goals this season (66) while taking the 3rd highest amount of shots per game (15.4). The team is 2nd in ball possession (59.2%) and 4th in passing accuracy (83.9%).

Palace Win Fourth In Row

Crystal Palace returned to work following the coronavirus lockdown with a victory, extending their current winning streak to four Premier League fixtures after banking a 2-0 triumph against Bournemouth away at Vitality Stadium on Saturday. Two strikes in the first 23 minutes of the game were enough for the Eagles to beat the Cherries in three straight league contests for the first time since April 1988. Luka Milivojevic and Jordan Ayew scored for Crystal Palace, who banked two first-half goals for the first time this season. The team has moved up to 9th place in the EPL (W11 D9 L10), sitting just two points below the top-seven.

Having found the back of the net in each of his last three appearances in the Premier League, Ghanaian star Ayew leads the Eagles with nine markers. Goalie Vicente Guaita, meanwhile, sits 8th in the EPL with 89 saves. He has recorded 10 clean sheets in 28 games so far this year and concedes a goal every 90 minutes on average. Crystal Palace have netted the 2nd lowest quantity of goals this year (28), while delivering the absolute lowest number of shots per game (9.8). The team is 15th in ball possession (46.3%) and 14th in passing accuracy (75.9%).

Prediction

Just before entering the coronavirus lockdown, Liverpool had lost four of their last six contests in all competitions and didn’t seem the previous threat even on their comeback against Everton on Sunday, dropping points for the second time in their last three Premier League outings. While the soon-to-be-champions are still trying to shake off rustiness, it is wise to give some advantage to their opponents. Especially with a Liverpool win here holding not much value at -385. Crystal Palace are entering the game on the back of four consecutive victories and have already won three of their past five trips to see off the Reds in Liverpool, with only two of their last nine overall head-to-head encounters ending up with the Eagles losing by more than one snipe.

Best bet:
