English Premier League Soccer - Norwich City vs. Everton, 6/24/20 - Preview, Prediction & Odds

Having lost four of their past five contests, bottom-dwelling Norwich City will try to earn a rare victory when playing host to 12th-placed Everton, who are winless in their last four Premier League games. Kick-off - at 13:00 PM ET on Wednesday, June 24.

Norwich Lose To Southampton

The hopes of Premier League survival went from bad to worse for Norwich City, who recorded their second consecutive defeat and fourth in the last five league contests (W1 L4) after being beaten with a count of 3-0 by Southampton at home at Carrow Road on Friday. After a goalless first half, during which the visitors hit the crossbar, the Saints netted three times in the following frame, leaving the Canaries without a strike for the fifth time in their last six contests, during which they have managed to find the back of the net on just a single occasion. Norwich remain bottom of the league with a W5 D6 L19 record, sitting six points below safety.

Finnish striker Teemu Pukki leads the Canaries with 11 goals this season but has failed to get on the scoresheet in his last six appearances in the league. Dutchman Tim Krul, meanwhile, occupies the 4th place in Premier League’s goalie chart, having stopped 102 shots. He has picked up five clean sheets in 28 contests this year and concedes a goal every 53 minutes of play. Norwich is top of the league in least goals netted this season (25), 12th in most shots delivered per game (11.5), and 9th in both ball possession (50.6%) and passing accuracy (80.3%).

Everton Hold Liverpool In Derby

The return to Premier League action after the coronavirus outbreak resulted in a goalless draw for Everton, who split points with champions-to-be Liverpool in their Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Sunday. Becoming just the third team in the Premier League this season to take points off the Reds (behind Manchester United and Watford), the Toffees had the best two chances of the game to get on the scoreboard, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s second-half attempt saved and Tom Davies hitting the post. Still, Everton remain winless in four consecutive EPL games (D2 L2), currently sitting 12th with a W10 D8 L12 record.

Calvert-Lewin tops Everton’s scoring table with 13 strikes, with Brazilian forward Richarlison sitting 2nd with 10 markers. Goalie Jordan Pickford, meanwhile, sits 12th in the Premier League with 78 saves. He has collected seven clean sheets in 30 appearances this year and allows a goal every 59 minutes on average. Everton have scored the 10th highest amount of goals during the ongoing campaign (37), while taking the 6th highest quantity of shots per game (13.2). The team is 10th in ball possession (48.9%) and 12th in passing accuracy (77.2%).

Prediction

Norwich City hold a pretty impressive recent record against Everton in all competitions, going unbeaten against the Merseyside club in three of the past four encounters (W2 D1 L1). Having said that, the Canaries are far from being in any shape or form at the moment to possess a threat to much better squads, having managed to win just two Premier League contests since the start of December (W2 D5 L10). Everton themselves are winless in four, but did seem promising in their first contest back from the enforced coronavirus break, looking the most likely team to score in their 0-0 draw against champions-to-be Liverpool on Sunday.

Best bet:

Everton to win to nil (+225)
