English Premier League Soccer - Tottenham Hotspur vs. Everton, 7/6/20 - Preview, Prediction & Odds

Two teams, both trying to finish in the top-seven of the Premier League this season, are set to face off against each other, as 10th-placed Tottenham Hotspur are playing host to 11th-placed Everton. Kick-off - at 15:00 PM ET on Monday, July 6.

Tottenham Lose At Sheffield

A three-game unbeaten streak (W1 D2) ended for Tottenham Hotspur, who recorded their first Premier League away defeat against a promoted team since April 2012 after losing 3-1 versus Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Thursday. Harry Kane found the back of the net on three occasions but saw two snipes canceled out for handball and offside respectively, his third marker coming on the 90th minute when the hosts were already leading 3-0. Spurs have now lost one game more under manager Jose Mourinho (7) than Chelsea did in their first two seasons with him as head coach (6 throughout 2004-05/2005-06). Tottenham is 10th in the league (W12 D9 L11), trailing the top-seven by four points, but with a game in hand.

English striker Kane leads Spurs with 13 Premier League markers this year, having netted four times in his last six appearances. Goalie Hugo Lloris, meanwhile, sits 16th in the league with 61 saves. He has recorded three clean sheets in 15 outings during the ongoing campaign and gives up a goal every 70 minutes on average. Tottenham have buried the 6th highest quantity of EPL snipes this year (51) while taking the 11th highest amount of shots per game (12.1). The team is 8th in ball possession (52.2%) and 7th in passing accuracy (81.4%).

Everton Win Versus Leicester

Everton banked their second consecutive win after edging out Leicester City with a score of 2-1 at home at Goodison Park on Wednesday. The Toffees controlled the ball just 35% of the time and were outshot by more than a double (15-7), but still managed to find the back of the net twice in the first 16 minutes of the game, with Gylfi Sigurdsson grabbing a penalty after Richarlison opened the scoring at the 10th-minute mark. Everton have now gone on a nine-game unbeaten run on own turf (W5 D4) and currently sit 11th in the league (W12 D8 L12), trailing the top-seven by five points, but with a game in hand.

English forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin tops Everton’s scoring table with 13 league markers, but has gone four games without netting a goal. Jordan Pickford, meanwhile, occupies the 13th place in Premier League’s goalkeeper chart, having turned away 81 shots this year. He has posted eight clean sheets in 32 contests this season and allows a goal every 61 minutes of play. Everton has scored the 10th highest number of goals during the current campaign (40) while delivering the 7th highest amount of shots per game (12.9). The team is 10th in ball possession (48.7%) and 12th in passing accuracy (77.2%).

Prediction

With just one victory in their last nine outings in all competitions (W1 D2 L6), Tottenham Hotspur do not seem to be in a good place at the moment. The team has managed to triumph in just one of its previous five domestic fixtures (W1 D1 L3) and is entering Monday’s clash on the back of an unconvincing display during Thursday’s 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United. Everton, on the other hand, are riding a two-game winning streak, having notched back-to-back victories against Norwich City (1-0) and Leicester City (2-1). And while the Toffees have lost four of their past six Premier League contests versus Spurs (D2 L4), five of the last nine encounters between the two sides have all ended as stalemates, with three of them finishing on 1-1 terms.
