FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake Prediction, Preview and Odds - 5/22/21

FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake

The Round 7 of the new MLS season is ahead this weekend, and we have a tight clash between the Western Conference rivals FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake. The game starts at 8 PM EST at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

Dallas looks to bounce back

FC Dallas is hoping for an improved result following a 1-0 defeat by Minnesota United. In that match, Dallas had 55% possession and six shots on goal, with two of them on target. Robin Lod's goal four minutes into second-half stoppage time was the difference for the Loons on Saturday in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Toros continue with their habit of producing much better showings at home than on the road, dropping to 1-2-2 record, 5 points on the year.

FC Dallas boss Luchi Gonzalez has to contend with reduced team options. Thomas Roberts (Leg Injury), Kyle Zobeck (Hamstring Injury), and Jesús Ferreira (Shoulder Injury) are not available for this matchup.

Salt Lake hopes to get a good result on the road

Real Salt Lake enters this match after a 0-0 draw against Nashville SC last weekend. In that game, RSL managed 55% possession and 12 shots on goal, but without a single shot on the frame. Salt Lake claimed four total points from a three-game homestand. David Ochoa earned his first clean sheet of the season. Claret and Cobalt have collected seven points from four matches in this year's MLS (2-1-1).

Brazil international Everton Luiz, who suffered an injury in the 2-1 win over Minnesota United in the season opener, remains in the recovery room, but he should be the only absentee in the Freddy Juarez team.

The Pick:FC Dallas to win (-103)

FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake head-to-head record shows that of the 27 meetings they have had, the Toros have won 11 times, while Claret and Cobalt have seven victories, with nine draws. Dallas is undefeated in its last 12 home league games. The Toros have scored eight goals in their previous four matchups at home. On the other hand, after winning their opening two encounters, Real Salt Lake is now winless in their last two. Considering that RSL failed to take a shot on target in the goalless draw with Nashville in their previous outing, we are tempted to put our money on the home team here.

Total:Under 2.5 (+105)

The last two meetings between these two teams have ended with a goalless draw and it looks like that in this one we shall not see many goals either. So, Under 2.5 is our choice for this tight clash at Toyota Stadium.
