I'm glad to get back to a four game slate as today's LCS slate will be stockpiled full of action. Given how level the teams seem to be for the most part across the LCS, most days will not have many for-sure win contests and today is no different. Let's dive into the matches for the day though, as I have a good feel about the day.
Team Liquid (-225) vs. 100 Thieves (+160)
The opening match of the day will see two teams who have had opposite starts to the split. Team Liquid sits at 2-0 while 100 Thieves comes in at 0-2. Team Liquid has a win over TSM that is impressive, but their victory against Golden Guardians was expected. Meanwhile, 100 Thieves is a better team than their record would recommend. Their two losses came against Evil Geniuses and Cloud9 which are two of the top teams in the league. Team Liquid is playing well as a team though, and Bot Laner Cody Sun is the only player that is playing great for 100 Thieves at the moment. I do expect 100 Thieves to grab some wins this split and they will find their groove, but it won't be in this match.
Pick: Team Liquid (-225)
TSM (-140) vs. FlyQuest (+100)
This second contest of the day is a prime example of a contest that has the makings for some great viewing. TSM is 2-1 while FlyQuest is 1-1. TSM hasn't been blowing their opponents out of the water, but they have been getting the job done with a solid team effort. Meanwhile, FlyQuest's only loss was to Cloud9 and that is not a loss that anyone holds against them. These two have alternated wins and losses back and forth with each other since the beginning of the 2019 LCS Spring Split. This trend would indicate that TSM would win this contest, but I don't expect that to be the case. I thought FlyQuest gave the much tougher Cloud9 a good fight in their only loss, and I believe they are the slightly better team in this matchup.
Pick: FlyQuest (+100)
Cloud9 (-305) vs. Evil Geniuses (+215)
You would not expect this big of a favorite in a contest between two 2-0 teams, but oddsmakers view this as a somewhat one-sided affair. Cloud9 has dominated Evil Geniuses in their head-to-head meetings, but I have a feeling this one is much closer than oddsmakers believe. If you want to break down both of these teams' matches so far this season (and it's a somewhat good indicator as they have both played 100 Thieves in one of their two games), then these teams have been equally dominant. I truly believe, given the current form of these squads, that the only position that I give Cloud9 an advantage in is the Jungler with Blaber. I can't pass up the opportunity to take a one unit shot with an underdog in a game that I see as virtually equal, if not a slight advantage to Evil Geniuses.
Pick: Evil Geniuses (+215)
Counter Logic Gaming (-150) vs. Dignitas (+110)
The closing bout of the day will be between a much-improved Counter Logic Gaming and a Dignitas squad that can't seem to get anything together. Counter Logic Gaming gave Mid Laner Pobelter the permanent starting spot and Bot Laner Stixxay is performing great at the moment so he is not in danger of being benched. Their opponent Dignitas gave Jungler Akaadian the permanent starting job and picked up Top Laner V1per from FlyQuest. These moves were a nice upgrade on paper, but something about the new composition hasn't been performing as they should. I believe that Dignitas will be a force later in the split once the team builds chemistry, although they aren't quite there yet. Even though the skill is present, I don't see an advantage in any lane for Dignitas giving the current form of these two teams.
