Well guys, we survived the week! One of the best parts of a Friday is the fact that the LCS is back in action for the weekend, albeit we only have a two-game slate to open the weekend. The story of the LCS so far has been the improvement of Counter Logic Gaming and Team Liquid, two of the cellar teams during the Spring Split. Meanwhile, Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses haven't missed a beat while 100 Thieves doesn't look nearly as impressive. I will say that today's slate features a pair of what should be great contests. The opening match will see FlyQuest take on Counter Logic Gaming, and this will be followed by a match between Cloud9 and Team Liquid. What do you say, let's hop right in shall we?
FlyQuest (-240) vs. Counter Logic Gaming (+170)
The first match of the day should on paper be the better of these two contests as we will see a pair of 3-1 teams do battle. Both of these teams have a ton of momentum as they have both won three straight since dropping their opening contests of the split. FlyQuest lost to Cloud9 while Counter Logic Gaming fell to Evil Geniuses, and no one is going to hold either of those losses over these teams' heads. I mentioned earlier that Counter Logic Gaming has improved drastically since their last place finish in the spring, but they are fighting an uphill battle here. FlyQuest has an advantage almost across the board I feel like, although I don't like the move that they made in demoting veteran Bot Laner WildTurtle to bring in MasH. It hasn't been announced whether WildTurtle will be back on the LCS roster or whether he will remain with the academy team this weekend, so that will be something to keep an eye on. I still feel as though FlyQuest is the stronger team in this match regardless of who is starting for them at the Bot Lane position, so I will back them on the spread to cut back on the juice.
Pick: FlyQuest Spread -5.5 Kills (-125)
Cloud9 (-360) vs. Team Liquid (+250)
Well, it's been a fun run for the 3-1 Team Liquid so far, but they are running into the brick wall that is the undefeated Cloud9 in this bout. Both of these teams have players towards the top of the LCS as far as KDA is concerned, but I honestly believe there is still a huge gap between these teams in terms of talent. Cloud9's Jungler Blaber was named the MVP during the Spring Split, but what makes Cloud9 so good is the fact that they are strong in all lanes. Mid Laner Nisqy and Bot Laner Zven have somewhat grabbed the reins of the team and they are playing even better than Blaber. Team Liquid's Bot Laner Tactical is one of the best in the business, but I can't see Team Liquid being able to hang around with more superior Cloud9.
