FURIA Team Stats and Latest Results
FURIA (#9 World Rank) are the favorites in this match, thanks to having a perfect tournament so far and all four wins, including the one over Liquid in the group stage. FURIA are on a six-game winning run; they won all three group matches against #45 Chaos, #14 MIBR, and Liquid, and then beat #11 100 Thieves 2-1 in the Upper final. Following a disappointing display on the opening map (Inferno) and a 16-4 loss, FURIA bounced back with wins at Vertigo (16-11) and Train (16-14).
Interestingly, only KSCERATO had a positive K/D ratio with +2 (47-45), and FURIA somehow managed to survive 100 Thieves’ jks, who had an astonishing 73-43 record. When it comes to maps, FURIA are the most successful at Mirage (69.8 winning percentage, 116 times played), while they are without a win at Dust2 (only two times played, though). Liquid’s current lineup consists of nitr0 (1.01 Rating), NAF (1.09), EliGE (1.09), Stewie2K (1.03), and Twistzz (1.13). This lineup played together on 123 maps since October 2019 and has a record of 76 wins and 47 losses.
Team Liquid Stats and Latest Results
Liquid (#6 World Rank) are the underdogs in this match, after failing to impress in the group play of the tournament and coming from the Lower Bracket. After losing two of three group matches, including the aforementioned to FURIA (1-2), Liquid showed their true colors in the playoffs with three flawless victories. First, they defeated #16 Gen. G without trouble (16-6, 16-4), and then secured a pair of wins on Saturday to reach the Grand final. Liquid’s first victims on Saturday were #19 Cloud9, who didn’t put up much of resist (16-4, 16-12), and later that day, #11 100 Thieves couldn’t stop them either.
Liquid had some issues in the opening map (Vertigo) and needed overtime to snatch a 19-17 win, but they completely dismantled the opponents on Overpass (16-5), their map of choice, to make their way to the Grand Final. When it comes to maps, Liquid are the most successful at Inferno (64.9 winning percentage, played 194 times), while they are also good at Vertigo (64.5%, played 31 times). On the other hand, Liquid is not playing very well at Nuke (47.3%, played 93 times). Liquid’s current lineup consists of nitr0 (1.01 Rating), NAF (1.09), EliGE (1.09), Stewie2K (1.03), and Twistzz (1.13). This lineup played together on 286 occasions since January 2019 and has a record of 189 wins and 96 losses with one draw.
FURIA vs. Team Liquid H2H Record
FURIA has an advantage when it comes to H2H encounters as they won four of the previous five duels, and are on a four-game winning streak. As I mentioned earlier, the Brazilians got a 2-1 win in the group stage after coming from behind. Namely, Liquid beat FURIA 16-9 on Vertigo, but FURIA responded on Nuke (16-14) and then wrapped up the win in overtime on Mirage (22-20).
FURIA vs. Team Liquid Betting Preview
I didn’t have a chance to watch FURIA yet, but I was so impressed with Liquid’s three wins in the playoffs that I am not sure about the outcome of this clash. Clearly that FURIA is in the best form at this year’s DreamHack Masters Spring - North America, as they are the only team with a perfect record so far. Also, they will have a 1-0 map advantage thanks to great displays earlier at the tournament, which is a significant advantage.
However, after watching EliGE in the latest match against 100 Thieves, I am leaning toward Liquid. He carried his team on the opening map with a 42-20 record and then added 20 more kills on the second map to hand Liquid a victory. I am expecting another excellent display from EliGE, and despite having an underdog tag, I am backing Liquid. We cannot forget that they have ten trophies opposite FURIA’s zero.
