UFC 265: Gane vs Lewis - Card Preview - 8/7/21

We’re back in Houston this Saturday, August 7th for UFC 265. This pay-per-view event is headlined by the big boys, Cyril Gane and Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis. The UFC actually created an interim heavyweight title for this fight since Dana and Francis Ngannou are in a bit of a tiff right now. Fake titles aside, that main event and this card in general should be pretty damn good.

In the co-main slot, we get Brazillian legend, Jose Aldo as he looks to make it two in a row at bantamweight. He takes on hard-hitting Pedro Munhoz, who was last seen leg kicking Jimmie Rivera into oblivion (a strategy that Aldo used to be renowned for actually).

Another guaranteed great fight on the main card is Vicente Luque vs Michael Chiesa. Luque is incredibly violent, landing upwards of 5.7 significant strikes per minute while receiving about the same. He looks to make it 4 wins in a row while Chiesa is going for his 5th straight win.

Those 3 main card fights are worth the price of admission. It’s a shame that we lost the Amanda Nunes fight to Covid-19 recently. Hopefully the rest of the card stays intact. Have a look at the lineup below. Check back later this week for predictions as always.

Ever since renting my first UFC VHS at my local video store, I’ve been in love with the sport of MMA. I’ve watched every single fight that has ever taken place under the UFC banner over the past 25 years. Once I started doing incredibly well in fantasy leagues, I realized I could utilize my skills in fight analytics to make a profit on betting. My obsession with researching every aspect of a fight gave me a real edge in finding value. Since then, it's been one profitable year after the next.
