UFC on ESPN+ 53: Ladd vs Dumont - Card Preview - 10/16/21

This card has gone through a small pile of main event changes before ultimately landing on Ladd and Dumont. Originally, former champion Meisha Tate was scheduled to face off against Ketlen Viera. When Tate got Covid they placed Norma Dumont and Holly Holm as the main event. Holm recently got injured so now the UFC gifted Aspen Ladd with the main event slot.

Ladd was supposed to fight two weeks ago at bantamweight but had another terrible weight cut which got her fight scrapped. That shouldn’t happen again as she’s now fighting 10 pounds north in the featherweight division against Norma Dumont. Dumont got knocked out by Megan Anderson in her UFC debut but has since rattled off two wins against Ashley Evans-Smith and Felicia Spencer.

The main event is as weak as it gets but there are a few other good matchups and household names on here. Long time fans will recognize Andrei Arlovski and Jim Miller making their UFC walks for the millionth time. Jordan Wright and Julian Marquez should be one of the better main card fights so tune in to that one. While Landwehr/Klein and Davis/Batgerel should be exciting scraps on the prelims for anyone keen enought to start the show early. Entire lineup is below:

Ever since renting my first UFC VHS at my local video store, I’ve been in love with the sport of MMA. I’ve watched every single fight that has ever taken place under the UFC banner over the past 25 years. Once I started doing incredibly well in fantasy leagues, I realized I could utilize my skills in fight analytics to make a profit on betting. My obsession with researching every aspect of a fight gave me a real edge in finding value. Since then, it's been one profitable year after the next.
