The 56th edition of the Peach Bowl features the #11 Ole Miss Rebels battling against the #10 Penn State Nittany Lions on December 30 from Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA.
The Rebels are 10-2 on the season and finished second in the SEC West standings, with their only losses against conference rivals Alabama and Georgia. Ole Miss finished the season with two straight wins, defeating Mississippi State 17-7 in the regular season finale.
Penn State was ranked as high as #6 in the polls after starting the season 6-0 but fell to #3 Ohio State 20-12. Three weeks later, they lost to #3 Michigan and then win their final two games to move to 10-2 on the season.
The Lions finished third in the Big Ten standings behind the two teams that defeated them in the regular season. In their last contest, Penn State got a 42-0 win on the road against Michigan State.
Peach Bowl Preview
Ole Miss allowed 23.7 points per game to opponents in the regular season. On offense, they put up 182.3 rushing yards and 254.1 passing yards per game.
Quarterback Jaxon Dart threw for 2,985 yards and 20 touchdowns with five interceptions, and Quinshon Judkins was the team’s leading rusher with 1,152 yards and 15 touchdowns. Senior Tre Harris was the Rebels’ top receiver with 47 receptions for 851 yards and eight touchdowns.
Penn State is the 4.5-point favorite in college football picks for the 2023 Peach Bowl after having the third-best scoring defense and the top total defense in the country, giving up 11.8 points and 223.3 yards per game. They also executed well on offense, averaging 37.2 points per game, ranking them 12th in the country. Quarterback Drew Allar has protected the ball well this season, throwing for 2,336 yards with 23 touchdowns and just one interception.
Kaytron Allen is Penn State’s leading rusher with 851 yards and six touchdowns, and Keandre Lambert-Smith leads the Lions in receiving with 53 receptions for 673 yards and four touchdowns.
