Best NCAAF Betting Promos for the Sun Bowl

Oregon State Beavers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei running with the ball

The Oregon State Beavers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet on Friday, December 29, in the Sun Bowl 2023 from El Paso, TX. As with the other bowl games this season, there are plenty of NCAAF betting promos you can use.

Oregon State tied for fourth in the Pac-12 Conference standings and an 8-4 overall record. They had two wins over #10 Utah and #18 UCLA during the regular season, but after a 62-17 home win against Stanford, the Beavers lost their final two games to Washington and Oregon.

The Irish led FBS Independent schools with a 9-3 record in the regular season. They won their first four games before taking on Ohio State at home, where they suffered a 17-14 defeat after the Buckeyes scored a touchdown to take the lead as time ran out. They later picked up wins against #17 Duke and #10 USC. Notre Dame comes into this matchup with two straight wins, including a 56-23 victory over Stanford in their last game.

This will be the third meeting between these two teams and the first since 2004. Oregon State is undefeated against Notre Dame, taking a 38-21 victory the last time they matched up in the Insight Bowl.

2023 Sun Belt Preview

The Sun Bowl will be the third straight bowl appearance for Oregon State, who are 28th in the country in points scored with 33.8 per game. The QB combination of D.J. Uiagelelei and Aidan Chiles passed for 246.1 yards per game, which ranks 52nd in the nation. However, both are in the transfer portal and won’t play in this contest.

On the defensive side, the Beavers are ranked 15th against the run, allowing 104.1 yards per game, and are 32nd in points against, giving up 21.5 per contest. The Irish will have difficulty gaining yards on the ground against a run defense that’s 6-0 this season when allowing fewer than 88 yards rushing.

Notre Dame averages 38.6 points per game, which ranks eighth in the FBS. They’re 50th in passing with 247.8 yards per game and 33rd in rushing, averaging 181.5. QB Sam Hartman has decided to skip this game after declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft and will be replaced by Steve Angeli, who had four touchdown passes and one interception this season.

The Irish defense is eighth in the country, giving up 16.6 points per game, and is fourth in passing yards allowed with 154.2 per game. Oddsmakers have made Notre Dame one of the college football picks to win as 6.5-point favorites in the 2023 Sun Bowl.
