He finished tied for sixth at the Masters in April, and back-to-back top-10 finishes on the LIV circuit indicate his game is rounding into form. If you want to get crazy, +5000 on Smith to win seems like a bit of an overlay, too.
- No hole-in one (+137 at bet365 Sportsbook): Yes, I’m a killjoy. Hear me out. The par 3 holes at Royal Troon are mostly on the longer side, and when the wind picks up, the elements present a real problem. The only short par 3 is the famous “postage stamp” hole, which surrounds a tiny green with an array of pot bunkers. I’m hoping the pros struggle, in this sense. If they do, I cash.
- Dustin Johnson misses the cut (-110 at BetMGM Sportsbook): It’s been a rough year for DJ to this point. He’s missed the cut in two of this year’s three majors, the lone exception being a tie for 43rd at the PGA Championship. His recent LIV results haven’t been much better, with just one top-10 finish since a win in Las Vegas back in February. I don’t think he’s sharp right now, and I think he pays for it this week.
