Bronny James Expected to Make USC Debut on Sunday

Bronny James

Less than 24 hours after LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers face the Indiana Pacers in the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament championship, the king’s son, Bronny James, is expected to make his collegiate debut. The USC Trojans will face the Long Beach State Beach at 4 pm est/1 pm Pst on the Pac 12 Network, Sunday December 10.

USC is 5-3 on the season after losing to Gonzaga 89-76 last Saturday. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact that Bronny James will make in his debut and this season. James missed the first eight games because he suffered a cardiac arrest during a workout last July. His expected debut for this Sunday comes after a lengthy road to recovery. James practiced in his first full-contact practice this past Thursday.

LeBron has stated several times on the record that he has dreamed of playing alongside his son. Before his medical emergency, James had shown up as a projected first-round pick in some NBA Mock Drafts, which made that dream seem closer to reality. Right now, of course, the focus is on the true freshman’s health.

USC vs Long Beach State Free Pick

by Viktor “The Viking” Allenson

I’m expecting the Trojans to bounce back from that 13-point loss against Gonzaga. USC is not a great defensive team, but LBSU’s style of play suits the Trojans, who lean on their backcourt duo. The Beach will struggle to contain both Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier, and USC will get a lot of open looks in this matchup.

LBSU’s 3-point defense has been awful thus far, so I’ll lay 14 points with USC even though the Trojans are 4-0 SU and 0-4 ATS in their last four meetings with the Beach. Long Beach State has only covered once in its last five outings, and the Beach are winless in 14 straight games against the Pac-12 Conference teams.

Prediction: Take the USC Trojans -14.0 (-110)
