North Carolina vs. Wagner Matchup

North Carolina finished the regular season first in the ACC with a 17-3 record and are 27-7 overall. However, they came up short in the conference tournament final against the NC State Wolfpack. They went home with an 84-76 defeat after shooting just 37.3% from the field.   

The Tar Heels are led by senior guard RJ Davis, who averages 21.4 points per game. That’s good enough for him to hold 11th in the country. 

Armando Bacot is the team’s leading rebounder, pulling down 10.2 per game and adding 1.5 blocks. In addition, Elliot Cadeau is first on the team in assists, dishing out 4.2 per contest.

The college basketball predictions had Howard as the favorite to advance against Wagner and face North Carolina in the first round. The 18-16 Bison finished third in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 9-5 record. They rallied to win the conference tournament after beating Delaware State 70-67 in the final, but fell short against Wagner.

Wagner has a 16-15 overall record and finished sixth in the Northeast Conference standings with a 7-9 mark. They were also underdogs to win the conference tournament. However, a strong performance gave them a 54-47 victory against Merrimack. They followed that with a 71-68 win against Howard Tuesday night.
