Here are some MLB props for Friday night to consider (odds courtesy of FanDuel):

Alec Manoah Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (+104)

Don’t call it a comeback! Alec Manoah has snapped back into form after a year and a half in the wilderness with impressive back-to-back outings. He has gone 7 innings in each of his last two outings, holding opponents to just four combined hits. Now, he catches a light-hitting Detroit team that ranks in the bottom third in runs scored, batting average, and OPS.

Despite their lackluster offensive output, the Tigers have put the ball in play, ranking inside the top ten in offensive strikeouts. This should also play toward keeping Manaoh’s pitch count down and allowing him to go deeper into this contest.

Whether Manoah is actually back from the brink remains to be seen, but we’ll ride the wave here and take the over for outs recorded Friday night.

Nick Castellanos 3+ Total Bases (+140)

The Phillies are rolling at the moment and look poised to keep things going as they visit the friendly confines of Coors Field this weekend.

Here, we will back the struggling Nick Castellanos as he gets a favorable matchup in a ballpark he has racked in historically.

In 49 career at-bats at Coors Field, Castellanos owns a whopping .388 batting average and an eye-popping 1.148 OPS, which ranks the highest of any ballpark.

Despite his 2024 struggles, Castellanos has a career .892 OPS against lefties, which is more than 100 points above his current level against righties.

He blasted a home run against Texas Thursday afternoon, and this looks like a fantastic opportunity to build on that.

Justin Verlander Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+130)

Rounding out our MLB prop bets for Friday night is another plus-money play.

Justin Verlander is not the formidable strikeout pitcher of old, registering just 26 strikeouts over 34 innings of work thus far in 2024.

However, he gets a perfect opponent here to rectify that, facing an A’s lineup with the second-highest strikeout total in baseball. Verlander is only two starts removed from an 8 punchout performance and still possesses swing-and-miss stuff.

Look for him to mow down a struggling Oakland squad and eclipse this total.
