2024 NBA All-Star Weekend Events

The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game begins at 7 PM on Friday, with Shannon Sharpe and Stephen A. Smith as head coaches of the teams. They’ll be joined by celebrities and sports figures such as Kai Cenat, Micah Parsons, C.J. Stroud, Jennifer Hudson, and Metta World Peace.

At 9 PM, the NBA showcases the league’s young talent in the Rising Stars game. This mini-tournament with four teams features Pau Gasol, Jalen Rose, Tamika Catchings, and Detlef Schrempf as head coaches. Team Pau features current Rookie of the Year frontrunner Victor Wembanyama and is the favorite to win the tournament.

All-Star Saturday night will include four events, including a new 3-point challenge with Sabrina Ionescu going up against NBA career 3-point leader Stephen Curry.

Three teams will participate in this year’s Skills Challenge. Team Pacers will comprise hometown stars Tyrese Haliburton, Benedict Mathurin, and Miles Turner. Team Top Picks features Wembanyama, Paolo Banchero, and Anthony Edwards. On the other side, Team All-Stars will compete with Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Maxey, and Trae Young.

The evening continues with the 3-Point Contest as Damian Lillard defends his title against a tough field of competitors. Lillard is the current favorite, just ahead of Milwaukee Bucks teammate Malik Beasley.

Saturday’s activities wrap up with the Slam Dunk contest. Mac McClung is back to defend last year’s impressive win against stars like Jaylen Brown, rookie Jacob Toppin, and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

The weekend’s highlight is Sunday’s 73rd NBA All-Star Game, returning to the traditional East vs. West format for this year’s event. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounpo were named captains after receiving the most fan votes.

The East has won the last three matchups. However, it is a slight underdog in the odds after losing Joel Embiid and Julius Randle to injury.
