NBA Play-In Tournament Matchups
The Los Angeles Lakers secured the #7 seed in the Western Conference after beating the New Orleans Pelicans 110-106 in the first Play-In game on Tuesday night. They’ll travel to Denver to face the #2 seed Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
Los Angeles is hoping to improve on last season. They advanced from the Play-In Tournament to the Western Conference Finals but were swept by the Nuggets on the way to their first NBA title.
In the second game, the Golden State Warriors were the first team eliminated after falling to the Sacramento Kings 188-94. The Kings will now face the Pelicans on Friday night. The winner will play the #1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round beginning on Saturday.
On Wednesday, the first Eastern Conference’s first Play-In matchup saw the Philadelphia 76ers rally. They came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat the Miami Heat 105-104. With that win, they advance to the first round, where they’ll face the #2 seed New York Knicks.
The Knicks took three of four games from the Sixers in the regular season. That includes a 106-79 blowout in their last matchup on March 12.
The Chicago Bulls defeated the Atlanta Hawks 131-116 in the second Eastern Conference Play-In game to end their regular season. They will face the Heat on Friday night to determine which team will hold the #8 seed and face the Boston Celtics in the first round.
