The field is set for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The UConn Huskies hope to become the first team to repeat as national champions since the Florida Gators in 2007.

Colorado State vs. Virginia Matchup

The Rams average 76.8 points per game and are 18th in the country with a 48.8% field goal percentage. Senior point guard Isaiah Sevens is the scoring leader, averaging 16.5 points. He also leads the team in assists with 7.0 per contest. In addition, he’s shooting 44.7% from a three-point range. 

Senior center Joel Scott is second with 12.9 points per game. Giving more strength to the squad, Nique Clifford is the leading rebounder. He averages 7.5 rebounds per game while chipping in 12.2 points.

Colorado State reached the semifinals of the Mountain West tournament. However, they lost to the New Mexico Lobos, 74-61.

Point guard and NBA prospect Reece Beekman is the Cavaliers’ top player, averaging 14.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. Shooting guard Isaac McKneely is next, averaging 12.5 points per game and shooting 44.8% from beyond the arc. Ryan Dunn is the leading rebounder for Virginia, averaging 7.0 per game and 2.3 blocks.

Virginia lost in the ACC tournament semifinals after NC State’s Mike McConnell banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer. That sent the game to overtime, and the Wolfpack later took the 73-65 victory.

The remaining First Four matchups will see Howard vs. Wagner on Tuesday night. Following this will be Boise State vs. Colorado and Montana State against Grambling on Wednesday.
