Bruins vs. Capitals Preview
Boston is a slight favorite to win on the road against Washington on Saturday. This is the second of three meetings between the two in the regular season, with Washington winning 3-0 in their first matchup in February.
Boston’s lead in the Atlantic Division has been reduced to two points over the Florida Panthers after losing three of their last four games. However, they’ve performed well on the road this season with a 19-8-9 record.
David Pastrnak leads the Bruins in scoring. He’s fifth in the league with 101 points, scoring 45 goals and handing out 56 assists. The Bruins give up 3.28 goals per game, with Jeremy Swayman leading Boston goalies with a 2.58 GAA. That’s good enough for tenth in the NHL.
The Capitals are in a tight battle for the final playoff spot in the Eastern. They’re tied with three other teams within three points of them in the standings. Washington are currently fourth in the Metropolitan Division, just a point behind the Philadelphia Flyers. They had their three-game road winning streak snapped with a 5-1 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs in their previous contest.
Dylan Stone leads the Capitals with 60 points on 25 goals and 35 assists. Getting a huge piece of the action, Alex Ovechkin is the leading scorer, with 26 on the season. John Carlson leads the team in assists with 38. Charlie Lindgren has been relatively solid at the goal for Washington with a 2.74 GAA. That puts him at 14th in the league with a .911 save percentage.
