The John Deere Classic, a prestigious tournament on the PGA Tour, will take place this year from July 4-7 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Here’s everything you need to know to get ready for the event.

Historic and notable moments at the John Deere Classic

  • 1971: The tournament began as the Quad Cities Open, initially asatellite eventon the PGA Tour. It became an official tour event the following year. Deane Beman won the inaugural tournament.
  • 1975-1979: Hosted by Ed McMahon, the tournament saw various title sponsors, including Miller Brewing Company, Hardee’s, and since 1999, John Deere.
  • 1971-1974: The event was held at Crow Valley Country Club in Davenport, Iowa.
  • 1975-1999: It moved to Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Illinois.
  • 2000: Michael Clark II wins the first John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run.
  • 2005: Teenager Michelle Wie plays on a sponsor’s exemption.
  • 2013: Jordan Spieth becomes the youngest PGA Tour winner at 19 years old.
  • 2023: Sepp Straka won the John Deere Classic.
