What NC schools should college hoops fans want to bet on?

NC College Hoops

With North Carolina online sports betting set to launch early in 2024, college basketball is expected to big focus in the state. Although the NFL gets so much attention, college basketball can often be a better money maker.  Here are some North Carolina schools that college hoops fans may want to bet on.

The TarHeels

The North Carolina Tar Heels are 5-1 after beating the Arkansas Razorbacks on Friday in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday. The Tar Heels are 15th overall in the KenPom ratings. When it comes to betting purposes, North Carolina is only 3-3 ATS but a strong 4-1-1 to the over.

The Blue Devils

Duke is always one of the most popular teams for sports bettors to target. The Blue Devils are rated No. 9 by KenPom, making them the highest rated team in the state. As for betting, Duke is 3-2 against the spread, and 3-2 to the over.

NC teams flying over the radar

Some of the lesser-known mid-majors have been big money-makers for sports bettors to start the season. UNC-Asheville, UNC-Greensboro, and UNC Wilmington are a combined 9-0 to the over to start the season.

Pay attention to High Point

The High Point Panthers are a member of the Big South conference. The team’s 3-3 start and No. 216 KenPom rating haven’t turned many heads, but this is a team sports bettors may want to make note of. High Point is 4-0-1 against the spread and has an under-the-radar matchup coming up against Morgan State next Wednesday.

A couple struggling ACC powers

Two ACC teams with big names haven’t been kind to college hoops bettors so far. The North Carolina State Wolfpack is 54th according to KenPom and off to a 4-0 start straight up. Despite the impressive record, NC State is just 1-2-1 ATS. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are 3-3 overall and rated 78th by KenPom. Against the spread Wake Forest is only 2-4.

Out of state but should not be out of mind

Yes I know that South Carolina is not in North Carolina, but the Gamecocks should be on your radar. Coming off an 11-21, South Carolina could continue to be an undervalued team in the near future. Rated No. 62 by KenPom, South Carolina is a perfect 5-0 overall and 4-1 ATS this season.
