With North Carolina online sports betting set to launch early in 2024, college basketball is expected to big focus in the state. Duke is always one of the most popular teams for sports bettors to target. The Blue Devils are rated No. 9 by KenPom, making them the highest rated team in the state. As for betting, Duke is 3-2 against the spread, and 3-2 to the over.
NC teams flying over the radar
Some of the lesser-known mid-majors have been big money-makers for sports bettors to start the season. UNC-Asheville, UNC-Greensboro, and UNC Wilmington are a combined 9-0 to the over to start the season.
Pay attention to High Point
The High Point Panthers are a member of the Big South conference. The team’s 3-3 start and No. 216 KenPom rating haven’t turned many heads, but this is a team sports bettors may want to make note of. High Point is 4-0-1 against the spread and has an under-the-radar matchup coming up against Morgan State next Wednesday.
A couple struggling ACC powers
Two ACC teams with big names haven’t been kind to college hoops bettors so far. The North Carolina State Wolfpack is 54th according to KenPom and off to a 4-0 start straight up. Yes I know that South Carolina is not in North Carolina, but the Gamecocks should be on your radar. Coming off an 11-21, South Carolina could continue to be an undervalued team in the near future. Rated No. 62 by KenPom, South Carolina is a perfect 5-0 overall and 4-1 ATS this season.
