Zurich Classic Preview
A total purse of $8.6 million will be up for grabs at the 2024 Zurich Classic and the winning team will split a first-place prize of $2,485,400. The par 72 course at TPC Louisiana, Avondale is 7,425 yards, with Ben Martin the course record holder after shooting a 62 back in 2014.
McIlroy and Lowry are one of the favorite duos at +700. McIlroy won this year’s Dubai Desert Classic and finished strong at the Dubai Invitational and the Texas Open before a subpar showing at The Players Championship and The Masters.
One of the most interesting pairings is the team of Sahith Theegala and Will Zalatoris (+750). They perfectly complement each other’s games. Theegala teamed with Beau Hissler and Justin Suh for the previous two years. Zalatoris, however, finished fourth in 2022 after partnering with Davis Riley.
Colin Morikawa, a two-time major winner, is coming off a decent showing at The Masters. He’ll partner with close friend Kurt Kitayama (+1400), who got his first win on the Tour at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Identical twins Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard (+2400) are pairing up for the first time at the Zurich Classic. Nicolai played here in 2023 with Thorbjorn Olesen. He won the DP World Tour Championship last year before contending at the year’s Masters. Rasmus is also a DP World Tour veteran who hopes to join his brother on the PGA Tour next season.
Canadians Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith (+3400) came close to winning here in 2023. They’re looking to complete the task this season.
