Former tight end Rob Gronkowski returned for “Kick of Destiny 2,” the sequel to last year’s FanDuel Sportsbook ad campaign. For the second consecutive year, though, Gronk’s kick during Sunday night’s big game was no good.
As a result, FanDuel users who said Gronk would miss the kick split $10 million in bonus bets.

A year ago, Gronkowski first attempted a field goal during the biggest football game of the year. However, he hooked it, and the first “Kick of Destiny” missed wide left.
While the outcome of the field goal attempt stayed the same, this year’s ad campaign from FanDuel had several other big differences from the 2023 version. The bonus bet feature was a new one, as was the presence of actor and wrestler John Cena, who served as Gronkowski’s antagonist.
Actor and former NFL player Carl Weathers had signed on to coach Gronk and appeared in the first “Kick of Destiny 2” commercial. However, Weathers passed away just before the big game.
