| CBB | (833) Portland State at (834) Montana State: Moneyline | 9:00pm EST - Feb 26/2026 |
The PLAY: Montana State -140
With a win tonight, Portland State would clinch the Big Sky regular season title outright. So (for some) it may seem strange that the Vikings are underdogs here at Montana State. Not to me. I'm in line with the oddsmakers in thinking the Vikings will lose this game.
I'll grant you that Portland State is clearly the best defensive team in the Big Sky. But in terms of the overall package, it's quite misleading that they have a three-game edge over the rest of the field in the conference standings. Montana State is actually rated higher in my power rankings. I also wouldn't be surprised if Northern Colorado cuts down the nets later this month in "Starch Madness."
Portland State just got beat 67-55 at home by Eastern Washington, a game they were favored to win by 6.5 points. That was the Vikings' second loss in the last three games. They were underdogs at Northern Colorado and lost 77-65 on 2/14. This is a spot where Montana State, off B2B road losses, should show up at home.

| CBB | (801) Morehead State at (802) Arkansas Little Rock: Spread | 8:00pm EST - Feb 26/2026 |
The PLAY: Arkansas Little Rock -3.5 (-109)
This will be Morehead State's second game in three days. Challenging bit of scheduling aside, the Eagles happen to be team that I was already looking to fade. A fortunate 10-3 SU record in games decided by five points or less is a big reason why they have the third highest luck rating over at KenPom. Sure enough, on Tuesday, it was a 64-63 home win over Southern Indiana thanks to a pair of last second free throws.
Yes, with a win tonight, Morehead State would guarantee themselves at least a share of the OVC regular season title. But isn't it telling - despite a 6-game SU win streak - that they are underdogs to an 11-18 Little Rock team? In addition to this being a bad scheduling spot, Morehead State is actually only 6th in net rating among OVC teams. They are a classic example of being "more lucky than good."
Last Thursday, Little Rock hosted another OVC contender (UT Martin) and won outright on a last second layup. There were about 50 people in attendance for that game, but the Trojans showed they still cared and beat the team with the highest net rating in the conference. Guess what? Just like Morehead State here, it was UT Martin's second game in a three-day span. Once again, I think Little Rock reaps the benefits of the schedule.
