We cashed Friday night's free NHL play (LaCombe 1+ Assist), and I'm looking to stay hot by locking in Matthew Schaefer to go over 0.5 points. The Calder Trophy frontrunner (-6000 to win the award) enters with 45 points (20G, 25A) in 63 games. He has at least one point in seven of his last 11 games (63.6%).
This is a great matchup for Schaefer and Islanders, as they take on a Sharks side that enters on zero days of rest. Since Alex Nedeljkovic tended the twine Friday, we'll likely see Yaroslav Askarov between the pipes Saturday for San Jose. He has struggled this season, ranking 58th in GAA (3.57) and 50th in SV% (.887). Overall, the Sharks are 31st in team GAA (3.44) and 30th in Corsi% (46.4%). The Sharks are constantly on their heels, so look for the rest-advantaged Isles to have a big night offensively. Give me Schaefer for 1+ point.
