The PLAY: Mickey Moniak Bases Over 1.5 (115) Action
Both teams appear to be approaching this contest with the plan of making this a bullpen game. Astros' reliever Ryan Weiss appears likely to make his first career start. What happens after that is anyone's guess. The Astros' bullpen has posted the second-worst ERA in baseball thus far. Steven Okert and Enyel De Los Santos have both pitched on back-to-back days, so presumably they are unavailable. Bryan Abreu threw 23 pitches last night, so bringing him back tonight may be a little shaky. Rockies' outfielder Mickey Moniak looks poised to take advantage of the Astros' pitching struggles after going 1-for-3 with a double on Wednesday. Moniak hit a career-high 24 home runs last season and already has five this year with a .650 slugging percentage. Moniak only has one walk this season, so he's not taking a patient approach at the plate. He's looking to put the ball in play, and that's why we're looking toward the total bases prop instead of runs + hits + RBI or another market that values walks. Assuming Houston does proceed with this being a bullpen game, Moniak should have plenty of opportunities to put some balls in play.
