| MLB | (909) New York Yankees at (910) Boston Red Sox: F5 Spread | 6:10pm EDT - Apr 23/2026 |
The PLAY: F5 New York Yankees -0.5 (-105) Cam Schlittler (RHP) Must Start
Cam Schlitter has been terrific through 5 starts this season while compiling a 1.95 ERA/0.76 WHIP while striking of 36 and walking only 3 in 27 2/3 innings pitched. The current Boston roster is an abysmal 3-for-20 (.150 BA) with 8 strikeouts lifetime against Schlittler. During his only career start versus Boston which took place last season, Schlitter pitched 8.0 innings and recoded 12 strikeouts. New York has led after 5.0 innings in each of their last 6 games. Conversely, Boston has led after 5.0 innings in just 1 of their 12 home games this season. The Red Sox are also 1-9-2 this season on the first half 5-inning money line versus American League teams and that includes 1-11 on the first 5-inning run line. Boston has scored 2 runs or fewer in 5 of their last 6 games and hit just 1 home run during that stretch. The Yankees are averaging 6.0 runs per game while posting a .352 team OBP and hit 14 homers over their previous 6 games. I still don't fully trust the Yankees bullpen when laying a heavy price on the road. However, I love their chances of having the lead after 5.0 innings with Schlittler on the mound. It's still too early for the Yankees to use Schlittler more than 6.0 innings. Especially with his pitch count getting up there early in starts due to his high strikeout ratio.
Bet the New York Yankees -0.5 as a first 5-inning run line pick and at odds of -120 or lower.
