The PLAY: Alec Burleson Bases Over 1.5 (101) Action
Alec Burleson has earned a hit in 22 of his last 23 games, so that's a great starting spot when you're getting plus-money on him to generate more than 1.5 total bases. He should enjoy a favorable matchup on Thursday against Zac Gallen, who has seemingly hit a wall this season. Gallen's .304 expected batting average allowed is one of the worst marks of any starting pitcher in baseball this season. His strikeout rate has dropped from 25.1-percent in 2024 to 21.5-percent last year to 14.3-percent so far in 2026. His 5.66 expected ERA is nearly a run-and-a-half higher than his expected ERA from last season. In four starts in the month of June, Gallen has an 8.85 ERA with a 2.11 WHIP with only ten strikeouts against 102 batters faced. In his last start against the Twins, Gallen allowed nine runs on 12 hits with two walks in 4.0 innings. Gallen has allowed at least three runs in nine of his last ten starts. Burleson enters Thursday in the top-15th percentile among hitters in expected batting average, expected slugging percentage, average exit velocity and hard-hit rate. He's hitting .335 with a .412 on-base percentage against right-hand pitching this season and 31 of his 34 extra-base hits have come against righties. Burleson only has two strikeouts in his last nine games, so he's a candidate to put the ball in play every time he's at the plate.
