The PLAY: Juan Soto Hits + Runs + RBIs Over 2.5 (110) Action
The Mets have arguably been baseball's biggest disappointment through the first 2.5 months of the season, but it's hard to put much of that blame on Juan Soto. The slugger is hitting .290 with a .389 on-base percentage this year while entering Tuesday in the top-10th percentile among hitters in expected batting average, expected slugging percentage, average exit velocity, barrel rate, chase rate, walk rate and expected weighted on-base average. Over his last five games, Soto has gone 8-for-16 (.500) with five walks, four runs scored and four RBI. Soto is hitting .302 with a .417 on-base percentage against right-hand pitching, which is what he will see against Brady Singer tonight in Cincinnati. In 12 prior plate appearances against Singer, Soto has reached base six times. He went 5-for-12 with a home run at Great American Ballpark last year, and after reaching base twice in Monday's contest, it's safe to assume that Soto enjoys the conditions in Cincinnati. Singer is 2-6 with a 5.61 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP this season. He enters Tuesday in the bottom-10th percentile among pitchers in expected ERA, expected batting average allowed, average exit velocity and barrel rate. Singer has allowed the fourth-most home runs in the league this season and has allowed at least one home run in seven of his last eight starts.
